i've always had the impression that not many people here rate forrest too highly? what are your thoughts on him as a fighter?
Very good fighter. Whatever people think of him the man has wins over Shogun, Rampage and Franklin. Good stand up, good chin, good control on the ground, great heart and will to win.
Other than the win over Rampage, he hasn't impressed me very much. The win over Shogun was great because it was a big upset, but I don't think that was a particularly sharp or good version of Rua that night. I like Forrest as a personality, but Rampage was the only night I think he looked very good against a very good fighter. He is big, he has cardio, but I don't think he's outstanding in any other areas. Still, one of the good guys of the sport.
Deserves respect, but ultimately he is a jack of all trades, master of none. But the guy comes to fight
the only thing i dislike about the guy are his shorts!!! those awful brown shorts, he wears them so much.
Glass Jaw, Glass Heart, terrible stand-up, terrible wrestling, decent top position BJJ, shitty guard, and shitty clinch.
Journeyman, gatekeeper of sorts. During the PRIDE era he was thoroughly insignificant. Because of his popularity his a mainstay in the UFC. That said he is a hard working fighter.
I have always rated him highly. He really surprised me with how good he was from the first time I saw him fight.
And he is still a top 10 light heavy. It's a good thing his chin isn't as important here, as it would be in a sport that dealt primarily with getting hit in the face.
About as likely as a Aoki Kod or a Morono thread in praise of Brock. Just ignore him I say And his deliberate bating is funny and pathetic at the same time (Yes Beekeper fans, Im aware of the irony of this statement )
