In a way, you're right, because he's been plagued by knee injuries since then but when he was together he was brilliant against Machida in both fights. Now, it's a different story, not only are his knees held together in MacGyver fashion but he's taken an utter drubbing of the sort that leaves fighters shattered hulks of what they were.

no, not really. Griffen is pretty below average in about everything he does. Not a lot of power or technique, he's very sloppy, slow, deliberate. Aside from his heart and will, there isn't a single thing he does that has stood out in any of his fights.
Im not saying he's great at everything, and his technique is indeed sloppy. But he has shown dedication to improve since the Bonner/Jardine days imo Mixes up his strike well, but of course his sloppiness and speed count against him here. No mug on the ground. But I do agree with your criticisms, but the only guys who have truly outclassed him are guys with ko power. And Keith Jardine I just think 'No skill' is harsh
