Fraizer vs Larry Holmes

This would of been like norton vs holmes but holmes's ribs are gonna be ****ed and chins gonna be swollen i got fraizer by decision a possible knockdown or two as well

 

Frazier by decision. Some people pick Holmes to stop Frazier which perplexes me. Holmes never stopped durable fighters - not Witherspoon, not Berbick, not even Norton. And yet he is going to stop Frazier? Larry relied on a basic 1-2 jab right hand combo. Holmes was nowhere near the combination puncher that Ali was and yet he is somehow going to stop Frazier.

IMO the 1971 Ali was still quicker than peak Holmes and a was a far better combination puncher. Ali took a better body punch than anyone i have seen. If Frazier can connect even close to the number of body punches on Holmes than he did vs Ali, Frazier batters him. Holmes likely wins rounds 1-4 but Frazier starts dominating from round 5 onwards.

Interestingly, the number of rounds matter. In a 15 round fight, i pick Frazier to win 9-6. In a 12 rounder, either guy could win 7-5. Frazier was a slow starter to the longer rounds favour him more.

Frazier 9 rounds to 6.

 

Frazier & I’m exceptionally confident. Especially if over fifteen rounds.

 

I genuinely believe if anyone goes past round 7 with fraizer in a 15 round fight fraizer will drag them to the deepend and either stop of win by decision

 

I got Holmes. I've explained my stance on this in a couple threads already, I think.

 

I agree. Even FOTC Ali was better than any version of Holmes.

I don't think Holmes goes the distance however.

He didn't have Ali's endurance, speed, nor defense to keep Frazier off of him. I think he gets stopped in the championship rounds.

 

I prefer Holmes to Frazier but I got Frazier winning this.

Frazier excelled vs boxers and his swarming relentless pressure fighting would be too much for Holmes over the 15 round distance.

If this was 12 rounds I'd give Holmes a better chance but I can't see him beating a peak Frazier over 15.

Also when Holmes and Frazier sparred I believe Frazier broke Holmes's ribs I'm not sure of the exact date though.

 

I got Frazier but it would be a grueling event for both IMO.

 

Prime Frazier beats Low Risk Larry to death over the long haul but not without taking plenty in return.

 

This was recently done. Still picking Frazier. One of the few times I go against Holmes in H2H

 

Frazier on points, has the perfect style to beat Holmes, Ali in the first Frazier fight had smoother footwork than Holmes and he struggled to stay away, so I doubt Holmes could stay off the ropes for enough time to get the better work off.

Frazier by 13th or 14th round TKO, Larry would show a lot of heart and grit but he can't discourage Joe ,Frazier's constant pressure would be too much . Be a close fight on the cards when Holmes is rescued by the ref

 

I’m going with Holmes in a war. I probably think more highly of Holmes than a lot of folks do here, IMO the only better heavyweights who ever lived were Ali and Louis. But I wouldn’t lay one penny down on this fight because I know what Frazier is capable of.
