Carl has always been great at controlling that space between him and the opponent, he crafted his style round his short arms
Great fight if it happens. Dangerous fight for Frampton, sad to say it but I think Valdez beats this version of Frampton.
Fair point - although against the top end fighters, would have been nice to have being able to create a little more distance.
He could well do. He's a clever fighter is Carl. And the manner in which he lost to josh, well he won't want to make the same mistake twice.
big fights at 4am are not what a broadcaster will want. Billy Joe is being linked to the same type of deal. Meaning Warrington is the one uk based fighter who can sell tickets and even he is yet to be proved outside of Leeds by himself. Look at the show they are putting on Saturday. DDD is a prospect but he's topping the bill at Wembley Arena when with all the kindless in the world his personality means he'll never be a superstar no matter how good he turns out. Yarde would probably have to go to the US to get a world title fight in 3 years time so i guess he could fight nobodies at Brentwood until then! I'm not sure BT are happy that Fury is fighting no names at 4am....
Let’s not guess here. So far there has been one fight at 4 in the morning and it was Fury v Wilder which was their most successful boxing promotion on BT by miles. Time will tell.I am pretty sure these will be major fights BT are getting.
If BT have something else they can show on Saturday evenings, then the early hours fights may well suit them, particularly if the viewing figures aren't heavily increased by boxing. Not to say I've a clue what on Earth they would show instead, or that it's preferable as a fan RE OP - Like this fact. Frampton, despite being past his best, will cause Valdez a lot of problems IMO. Probably not enough to win but it's a close fight
You seem to think BT will be happy with 4am fights. They won't. Frampton, Fury and Billy Joe won't have many uk fights of note in the next year. Billy might have a fight or two to get ring rust off but thats it. Warrington isn't a star ( yet) as that ppv flopped v Frampton compared to Sky's offering.
Agree with that. Amazing career Carl had for a genuine midget. He was a tiny superbantamweight, never mind featherweight. Madman wanted to try superfeatherweight too but got beaten by Josh. Hope he has one last great performance in him but I wouldn't bet on it.
Another great point. The man's judgment of distance was insane. One of those fighters who dodges punches by a whisker all night long and counters beautifully.
Before the Warrington fight I would have back Frampton all the way in this one but he just is not what he used to be and I think he would be outworked by Valdez but why not take it and make some money at the end of his career? Valdez is easy to tag so he is still in with a chance
