He was a very good super light weight contender in the 1980’s. Had an amateur record of 269-11. Then went 30-2-0-20 in the pros. Was only beaten by Buddy McGirt and Loreto Garza in the pros. He defeated some very good fighters along the way like Buddy McGirt ( in their first fight ), Sammy Fuentes, Mickey Ward, Gene Hatcher, Ronnie Shields, and Roberto Elizondro.

Magoo, he was awesome! One of my favorites at 140. Never in a dull fight and I was stunned at his loss to McGirt due to the way he handled him in their first fight. I believe there was some issue with a detached retina which curtailed his career. But, man, he was like a comet across the sky, because with that style he was going to burn out quick.

He would have beat Terry Marsh easily ...if Marsh hadnt retired and deprived him of the title shot

He outlasted opponents with conditioning and work rate. He got inside and set up shop in the other guys chest and smothered his offense. It worked well enoughj to beat McGirt in their initial encounter. But he didnt have a good enough defense to allow this style to work over the long haul and after getting battered by McGirt in their second fight he was essentially done.

Dempsey 1234, he used to post here, was very involved with his career. I think that he managed him after Warren ended his association with the Duvas.
