Stupid fight for Froch to take at this point imo. Take the Taylor fight, give America a show, build his unbeaten record. Get a good payday. No disrespect to Taylor but I see him as an easier option than Kessler, Bute or Dirrel just now. He's only just got the belt, make some cash before a big risk would be sensible.
Well I do believe that Froch is the lesser fighter of the two, but I don't think it is fair to completely outrule him. The best should fight the best, but you're probally right. Froch is gonna probally avoid Dirrell and then the Froch fans will say Dirrell is avoiding Froch. meh, I got all excited over nothing.
Showtime would accept Dirrell as an opponent for Froch because all of the Matrix's fights have been on Showtime and I'm sure they would want to air his first shot at title.
If Showtime was not willing to broadcast a Taylor-Froch fight on tape delay. What makes you think they will want to broadcast a Froch-Dirrell fight? I'm sure they would be interested if the fight was in the USA. Just like they were interested in the Froch-Taylor fight for March 28th. But Froch refused to fight on that date and wanted 1.6 million to come and fight Taylor in the USA. In my opinion the promoters of Dirrell and Ward won't let their young fighter go over to England for their first title shot. They are not ready and they have enough backing from their promoter and US networks to be able to continue their development and not have to rush into a world title fight. My guess is the WBC will appoint Marcus Johnson has Froch's mandatory challenger.
It's hard not to be impressed with Dirrell as of late. If this fight were to somehow take place (emphasis on somehow), I would pick him to beat Froch but not with total confidence. If he fights the right fight, Dirrell could probably box rings around the defensively challenged Froch. That would mean fighting at an economic pace and not getting drawn into a slugfest. Froch's defensive liablities are glaring enough to make a guy want to go all-out but the truth is that Froch's chin can hold up to the fire. Dirrell simply cannot afford to over-exert himself because if he were to tire as the fight went on Froch would eventually get to him. As it is, Froch would give him some rough moments but Dirrell should win the fight on paper.
I bet all you dumbasses picking Dirrell have never seen Froch fight. They showed him a couple of times on the Spanish channel here in Houston and that mother****er can box. He ain't no ****ing walk over.
Froch's got a solid jab and he can crack. He's got a good chin too. He can box a bit but he's also easy to hit. He can keep that hand down by his waist.
I'd like to hear that tape delay story directly from Showtime, they did it for Peters-Klitsko on Tarver-Dawson undercard.
I dont think that Froch would beat any of those fighters...including Taylor who is a much better fighter then anyone frock has faced....Frock wouldnt even rank on JT's top five.
That's funny. Two still unproven boxers fans arguing eachothers. They are both unproven, got it? That doesn't mean they are both bad. They are good boxers, we just don't know yet how good. At least, Froch is ready. I mean, he won't ever be more ready than he is now. Dirrell is so green he must be able to photosynthesize. Anyway, just stop to be so sure of yourself about your boxer. You don't have anything to justify your opinion.
Dirrell's as ready as he's ever going to be, and Froch is a great style matchup for him, assuming his chin can hold up. I had questions about his chin after the Stevens fight (you don't run like that unless you're really afraid of the other guy's power), but he held up well to Oganov's punches. Has the potential to be a very exciting fight (or a very boring fight) if it gets made.
