http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7oyvv_jean-pascal-vs-carl-froch-14_sport Just watching the replay on this link and after reading so much about Pascal's fast hands beating Froch's slow hands, i cant help but think Froch's speed is underated. He was letting that long long reach thud home pretty fast on Jean's face all the way through. Did Pascal underestimate his speed ?
Pascal was definately faster. When he had his spurts, he landed easily on Froch, fast combinations......the problem Pascal had was keeping it up. He did very little in many of the later rounds, and was at the end of Froch's jab. Froch was definately slower. Just he kept up his workrate, and was able to counter when Pascal had his spurts.
He seems to flick some shots, just to get a reaction. He hurt Pascal early in the first, then started flicking to get Jean to react and it worked quite well. I think froch does work hard. He throws bomb after bomb rather than clusters of smaller shots which perhaps look 'busier' but are less effective. His chin is like a rock though, Pascal detonated some monster right hands and Froch didn't flinch. I think to beat him, would be on points and outbox him. Cant see him going down.
Froch has slow feet not slow hands. His slow footwork will get exploited by top level fighters such as Kessler.
city of god. greatest movie of all time :good although i aint seen city of men yet. anyway to answer the question. no
Calzaghe summed up Froch pretty well: hands down, chin up in the air, one punch at a time. He's just a mediocre slugger
Thats very narrow minded. Froch actually has decent boxing ability, he controls many of his opponents with the jab, and shows much more skill than a mediocre slugger.
pascal is faster. froch is slow mover, his footwork is to predictable and robotic for top class fighters IMO
The problem is not his handspeed but his footspeed. You have to get to the other boxer to hit him. Fortunately for Froch, he had a reach advantage of a couple of inches against Pascal. But against a tall SMW (name the one you want amongst the top of the division) Froch will have huge problems.
Nah, he's slow. Reactions, handspeed and footwork all look sluggish. He won the Pascal fight on chin and fitness. He was there to hit for the first half of the fight, Pascal tee-d off on him and punched himself out. Given that most of the top guys know how to pace themselves I can't see his winning streak continuing at the world level.
