Cant see Joe comming back,he made enough money and retired unbeaten.I dont think he will risk fighting Froch after a lay off.I think Joe had genuinely had enough of the training and the injuries and ment it when he said he was leaving the sport.
there is no doubt calzaghe would win hands down! taylor exposed froch for what he is. I know froch fans will say he KOed taylor but looking at the fight taylor had the fight won, but JT's stamina is and always has been very poor for all his career frankely. Calzaghe's work rate and stamina is the best in boxing so i see a wide decision for calzaghe very easy.
Which rounds did Jones supposedly win then? Jones was never in that fight apart from the first, it was a schooling, showboating, one sided massacre after that.
This would be a complete embarassment of a fight for British boxing. It would get the big buildup, harking back to Eubank/Benn. Froch's footwork and defence would be shown up horribly. Couldn't picture him winning a round.
I disagree, with the knockdown Jones was in it early on. Some of the early rounds were close, Jones landing the more meaningfully crisper shots, while Joe did the usual stuff. Calzaghe pulled away (dominated in the second half no doubt) - against the one eyed corpse of Roy Jones and then started show boating. I know the judges gave a lot of the rounds to Calzaghe, but that's not the full picture. No way am I watching that fight again... Check out the BBC on the fight, I remember them having it evens going into half way... Joe did not dominate that fight from the off. That's not to say he didn't win it easily in the end.
It was Roy Jones handspeed that caused all the problems for Calzaghe. Roy is useless, but the one thing he has is handspeed for a few rounds. Once he made the adjustment it was easy, as it should have been. I don't think much of Froch's speed.
I makes it closer to becomming reality as now there might be the interest and therefore money in the fight to make it happen. It doesnt improve Carl's chances of beating Calzaghe though. He'd get clowned by Joe and Joe doesnt run out of juice.
All those problems for Calzaghe? What fight were you watching? The only problem Calzaghe had was getting clotheslined. After that he won everything.
I was watching the fight that happened. "All the problems" was maybe an exaggeration, but Joe ate a few too many punches for my liking in the first few rounds. A number of straight rights and then an uppercut that sent his head flying back. Roy's handspeed is still right up there. The fight has no particular bearing on Calzaghe/Froch anyway, I'm not sure why it was brought up.
He may not have big power but he hurt Lacy and Kessler more than anyone else has. Froch certainly has a looser defence than Kessler.
Calzaghe was showboating from the 2nd round onwards. I think they even had a pose down towards the end of that round :rofl Calzaghe was standing right in front of Jones from the 2nd round onwards and landing punches with ease, mocking Jones and Jones was barely getting anything off.
I think the fight will happen now, as a direct result of everything we saw last night. Froch has made a name, made a statement in America. He has his backers, he is coming off 2 great wins. He also has shown how he can be outboxed, and that is exactly what JC would do to him, for the entire fight. JC has better stamina, footwork, skills, timing etc etc. Joe could not kayo Froch but he could and probably would do a Lacy on him.
He should enjoy his victory and work on his terrible defence and remember that for 11 rounds of the fight he was totally outclassed by a smaller fighter who lets face it has no stamina whatsoever. I actually think Jermaine Taylor is quite possibly the worst conditioned boxer around right now, but instead of carl froch thanking his lucky stars he was able to pull off the victory, once again he mouths off about wanting joe calzaghe. Beleive me carl you DONT want that fight, calzaghe would give you hell for every minute of every round and not tire one bit. Be careful what you wish for, Calzaghe may just fancy the thought of destroying you and then how stupid would your boasts look?? Keep quiet carl and you may avoid a beating
I think Froch is calling out Calzaghe fully knowing that Calzaghe is not coming out of retirement for Froch. He is trying to look like he will take on anyone. Kind of a ***** move IMO.
