If both Froch and Kessler both win, will their matchup next year be for the Ring Magazine belt?

No. Froch is 3rd and Kessler is 1st. By the Ring's rules only in exceptional circumstances can a fight between 1 and 3 be for the title:good.

At this moment in time - things can change if they both win.

Valid point but we're talking about at the moment, Kos. I wanted to type it in such a way so it was completely clear for 'rockandrollstar'.

Maybe so but the Ring's ranking are as stated at the moment. I don't see how a win over Dirrell will make Froch 2nd, TBH.

No, he asked if they both win their next fights should they fight for it.

Would the fact Bute isnt in the super 6 be an "exceptional circumstance" as Kessler wont fight him until 2011 at the earliest, if he does at all?

Refer to post number 6, all. I'm not repeating myself again! **** it actually, I will- a win over Dirrell will not improve Froch's ranking.

Don't see why it would, mate- that rule is for long-term injuries and cases like the Klitschko brothers. This is why the Ring title is so good- even people like Darchinyan, who has beaten Mijares (coming off a win against Munoz) and Arce, don't get awarded the belt. You have to earn your ranking and then beat the best. I absolutely love it as a lineal title, TBH.

The only way I can see the rankings changing is if Froch destroys Dirrell and Bute loses against Andrade. That way, as long as Kessler wins, the fight should be for the title:good.

No, I read it all. Why wouldn't a win over Dirrell put him above Bute? I just want to hear your reasonings for thinking this, thats all. Cheers :thumbsup

Would be nice if the winner of the tournament went home with the WBC and WBA as well as The Ring.

The winner would surely be regarded as Linear Champ.

What for the winner? Pavlik? Hopkins? Maybe Calzaghe.

    Exciting times.
