It's not how the Ring rankings work, Kos. It isn't anything to do with my personal opinion. You gain a ranking based on who you have beaten in the rankings. You onl;y become champ by either beating the holder of the title OR having a fight between 1 and 2 for the championship and, in exceptional circumstances (such as brothers not wanting to fight eachj other), the title fight can be between 1 and 3.

Like I said, if Froch blitzes Dirrell and then Bute loses, they will swap places. If Froch was figthing someone ranked above him he could gain their spot or, depending how good the victory was, he can go above them.

See what I mean or are you still unconvinced?

Thats what I mean, he could go ahead of him - meaning they would fight for the Ring title.

Well he 'could' but I am trying to make this arguement as simple as possible going by the rules set out by the Ring. At this point in time, a win over Dirrell probably won't improve his ranking as Dirrell is ranked far below him. If Froch beats Dirrell and Kessler, it's plausible that he could become 1 and someone else in the tourney can pick up 2nd if Bute loses. Rulez iz rulez.

I'm just saying that when they fight, it will most probably not be for the title unless the Ring say 'the Bute fight is impossible so 1 and 3 is for the title'. That said, their veracity is 100% spot on, though, so I don't see it.

    :thumbsup

    See now?

You don't have to talk to me like I am some sort of ******ed 8 year old kid you know.

I know there is little chance of them fighting for title, but there is a chance, no matter how small it is - in your original post you straight out said 'no' which is wrong.

It wasn't meant to be condescending- hence the ':thumbsup'. Sorry if it came across like that, it was unintentional, Kosa:good.

In short, it won't be for the title. We've discussed plenty of permutations but the chances that they will all happen (and in that order) are minute, it's like saying 'Russia might be sending a nuke over as we speak'. The fight won't be for the title- I'd be very suprised if the Ring break their own criteria just for this fight. Look at Margo-Mosley- between 1 and 3 at the time but no Ring title was on the line:good.

I think Kessler will beat Froch, but Froch can never be counted out.

Not true. He was rated as a 135lbr prior to beating Kotelnik. I still find it amazing that Kotelnik is seen as a weak fighter now that Khan has beaten him- no-one said that when he beat the 'monster' that is Maidana:think.
