Frochs local fan base is unreal. I'm from right in the middle between notts and derby and last weeks fight was huge round here. Everyone was talking about it and everyone wanted froch to win. I was pretty much the only person who wanted groves to win. My girlfriend was out in town and the fight was on. Everyone was glued to it and she said there was only one guy supporting groves. I personally dislike froch. I think he's very arrogant and obnoxious and I told everyone about what he gets like and how he talks about himself but everyone just saw this local hero, a kind of Ricky hatton figure. Whatever you say about froch and the stoppage. His fan base is huge. The casuals ate it up. My Facebook was full of status updates it was ridiculous. I know this is only the local area but fighters like Carl froch with big fan bases and the ability to bring casual fans out in huge numbers is always great for the sport. Especially for British boxing.
I'm from near Nottingham and I can honestly say that nearly everyone I no from the area hate him saying he's a arrogant **** not to mention that silly brother of his who wears the sunglasses into the ring
The fan base he has is diminishing rapidly with his post fight interviews etc. if froch and groves do have the rematch I can almost guarantee froch will be booed to the ring, the backlash on twitter has been huge. The casuals are beginning to see the arrogance and delusion, the British public don't like them 2 traits.
Will always be a fan. His delusion is what makes him the fighter he is. He gets another few percent out of himself. I don't fault him on it i disagree with him plenty of times of the years and he can be utterly stupid but at times his honesty is so blunt he rubs people up the wrong way but he's given me so many memorable fights. That's why i will always be a fan.
