who wins this prime for prime middleweight war and it would be a war. two hard hitters and game opponents.i like zale here though it could be a toss up.

Different kettle of fish . Tony Zale, pre-war, would have destroyed Gene Fullmer at his best, most certainly...Zale at his peak was a nonster two handed body puncher, who was as tough as Fullmer, but twice the puncher.
No way Fullmer lasts the 15 round bout.

Can't disagree with Mr. B on the prewar Zale.

Interesting article S, you posted on the Zale/Georgie Abrams fight. Abrams who fought Ray Robinson to a controversial "loss" in 1947 was a helluva
middleweight, who fought a PRIME 23 year old Charley Burley to a draw in 1940...Abrams at his best was a handful for anyone of the middleweights since his time. I saw Georgie give Marcel Cerdan a hell of a fight in MSG,
in 1946... Georgie Abrams would have licked Fullmer handily were they to have fought...Some of our greatest fighters due to timing etc, never won a title. Abrams was one of the best untitled fighters in my lifetime....Should
    be in the HOF...

    Thanks Burt
Georgie Freedom Abrams had a big fan in Gene Tunney too.
Heda licked Fulmer as you say, too much in his arsenall!

abrams was also 100 times better to watch than fulmer.i'm not sure about a fulmer-zale result
