Ridiculous statement. Frankie is progressing just fine. He'll hopefully fight for the European title in December and then defend it once and probably fight in a World title belt Eliminator next summer and a possible world title shot by the end of 2014/early 2015 when he'll be 29 years old which is hardly old for a boxer nowadays. I will say though that he'd do very well against someone like Thurman who is a come forward agressive fighter which is a style that suits Gavins counter-punching skills the most.
i think we should value the Euro title a lot more in Britain. these days fighters get the IBF or WBO international belts insetad which is a shame.

Brook is a year younger and was ready for a world title last year, however injuries etc stopped the fight from happening. Brook had defended the British title enough to keep it at the Jennings fight which was in 2010. I think Brook is much further ahead than Gavin is right now Considering Brook had achieved what Gavin has when he was 24.
Another laughable statement. Kell Brook has been a Pro for 9 and half years. Frankie has been a Pro for 4 and half years. Carl Froch didn't win a World title untill he was 31 years old so it dosen't matter about age but rather being ready for it when it does happen. If Frankie keeps winning he'll be on course for a World title shot 12-18 months from now when he'll still only be 29 years old.
Maybe its time for 'Funtime' to become 'BigTime', he should try and leapfrog Kell Brook, by fighting one of the bigger names in the division. European title dont mean much these days, aim high.

I just don't think he would even consider dropping down to 140lb at this point. The styles clashed big time against Barnes he was even saying himself between the last few rounds it was a poor fight. Without doubt he will never be a ko artist but Denton Vassell would tell you he certainly isn't totally without power!
He's in a good place now and that was the biggest obstacle IMO, he can now concentrate on his boxing and move along at a good pace, Euro title fight/Euro level opponent next for Frankie.
He's boxing at least 1 weightclass above where he should be and that will ultimately catch up with him at world level. He's 28 now and needs to get on with it. Win the European this year. Defend early next year then look for world level fights straight away

Frankie has come on here many times saying he couldn't do 140. At the end of the day he knows his body better than anyone else. Some people can be great boxers without being ripped... Nonito Donaire for example... I think at this stage of his career people should stop knocking Frankie for what he is not and appreciate what he is (if that makes sense). He has bagfuls of talent, but he'll never be a one punch swinger. Matched well, Frankie can really showcase his skills (like against Denton Vassell), matched badly and he'll be in the odd stinker. As afar as levels, I think he has had a few stagnant areas in his career, but is now completely back on track and easily ready for Euro and fringe world contenders.
He will say that though hardly going to say yeah I'm boxing 12 pounds too heavy or I just can't be arsed to shift the weight and eat clean enough
