Are they really that good? After watching Wilder for the first time he wasn't very good and it wasn't due to Fury's game plan he was just trying to throw one punch from start to finish he was trully aweful. I think Wilder is really overated and no better than the likes of Chisora , Whyte even Bellew and hasn't fought anyone decent? Fury's being made out to being better than he really is after that performance but like i say Wilder is poor..
Technically, no - Wilder isn’t that good. What he does have is exceptional power and also a genuine killer instinct. He can smell blood and knows when to go for the kill. Whilst he’s not a technical boxer, those two attributes make him very very dangerous.
The Heavyweight division is rank rotten and you probably make a very good point - neither may be very good. The cream rises to the top even though it may be sour.
He would leave all the fighters you mentioned knocked out. Poor Chisora would be a punch bag against him as he has no footwork nor reach.
Take away wilders power and he's not even top 10 But he has it and that's why he is up there. As for Tyson fury there has never been a man his size who can't box like he can. Therefore I believe fury would be a formidable opponent for a lot of ATGs.
I don I dont know where this idea comes from that wilder isn't technically good, anyone that says wilder doesn't have technique doesn't understand boxing in it's entirety. Sure he doesn't fight out of a basic boxing stance but that doesn't mean he isn't technically good. Why do you think wilder has so much power, it's because his style is set up for single and two shots, that is technique. His technique is bang on for 1 and 2 shots attacks and counters. That's how he's decided to fight
It’s like when people slate Froch for being “technically poor” just because he kept his hands low and relied on his chin a lot. Just a whole load of nonsense.
Someone with the skills to do so should mock up a Thug Life skit with the Snoop Dogg rap "The Next Episode" kicking in as Fury rises like Micheal Myers. Would be epic as well as funny.
Note the use of my word ‘technically’ - my meaning was different to how you’ve chosen to interpret it. I’m not saying he’s a bad fighter, or his ‘technical skills’ are bad - but if you wanted your textbook archetypal boxer it’s not Wilder - that’s why lots of people think he’s bad. I actually quite like him personally - he’s exciting to watch and with his power I think he’s got a genuine shot at beating Joshua.
If you had watched a Wilder fight before last weekend then you'd realise he isn't 'that good' but has strengths. Not lambasting at all, but youtube and other sources are around to easily make fights more entertaining and get personal insight before they happen. After all they can take years to happen...
