Thompson sent a tweet last night in the early hours seeming to hint it is happening on Saturday.

If it does the whole event will have been rescued and I could actually see a fair few last minute tickets being sold off the back of The Tiger facing Fury.

Obviously a risk for Fury given his whole camp was preparing for a 6'1 come forward fighter not a 6'5 & 1/2 cagey southpaw.

But equally Thompson cannot be in peak condition to go go 12 rounds against a man 16 years younger than him.

What are everyone elses's thoughts and what do you see happening if it does brilliantly come off?

wazza said on the radio this morning they were having a meeting at 10.30 to try and sort a new opponent.

but he also said about 15 thousand tickets had been sold!!!

dont think peter fury would accept thompson just too different from what they have been preparing for

tyson would probably fight anybody - even if he still on the **** now from finding out yday

Respect to Fury if he takes this fight.... High risk, low reward fight. Thompson is old, but cagey and very dangerous.

He's a 42 year old man who was comfortably beaten by Pulev.

The same Pulev that Tyson was meant to face 18 months ago for the mandatory spot...

It's a good fight at short notice, but let's not make Thompson out to be a world beater.

Thompson would be a great last minute replacement. I would fancy Fury to win late though not because of Thompson's age, as he has proved he can still beat young contenders time and time again, but just because of his lack of preparation. It would be a good fight and a real big risk for Fury.

Hopefully you booked a fully flexible hotel room and can cancel up to check in day if need be, also you do know you can get a refund on pre bought train tickets too. Just the ringside seats you may take a hit on.

Not a world beater, but he's certainly world level and can still beat solid heavyweights. It's a dangerous fight for Fury to take especially when he was training for a completely different fighter. Like I said. High risk, Low reward. Thompson is awkward for just about anyone.

I want my refund. I wanted to see Fury V Chisora, not Fury V Thompson.

If this is true it would be a very good fight as far as last minute replacements go.

Well Fury certainly didn't melt down and go on a bender last night ... This tweet from Asif Vali suggests a replacement is being sought for Saturday

@asifvali: @Tyson_Fury @peterfury team in gym until we know for 100% we carry on as normal. http://t.co/mZ5sNqumMd

And then a series of photos of Fury working out this morning.

    Thoughts?
