No I have to disagree. I think 2017 saw a Klitschko who was highly motivated, willing to take chances and a fighter who knew he was bookending his legacy win or lose. The version Fury probably would of faced in Manchester had he not retired.
Agree the smart thought on this fight is all pointing towards Fury fighting as a southpaw, because Wilder has had such difficulties with it and because Fury has been so skilled as a southpaw before. I think that is his ace card to play. However there are reports he wants another tune up fight, and the Wilder fight may now be pushed back to Feb /March 2019.
Definitely more than flash knockdowns in both cases -- he recovers but is hurt by both shots. It is not like it is a balance issue or anything that puts him over. I think Wilder will catch him in this fight and stop him. Big Fury fan and looking back on old fights shows just how heavy he looks even now compared to then
