After watching the Griffin v Sturm rematch, the first Sturm fight i've seen, i thought i'd ask around to see where you guys think everyone should be headed.

I think everyone would love to see AA v Pavlik, which at the moment, i would say 60/40 for Pavlik, just because of his intense workrate.

Pavlik and Sturm would be a mismatch, i was pretty dissapointed with Sturm lastnight, he would get murdered by Pavlik. He has an appauling workrate.

AA would probably knock Sturm out mid rounds, i don't think Sturm would throw anywhere near enough punches to worry AA, and with his limited workrate he wouldn't have enough power to trouble him.

I'm an Aussie so i am praying Mundine decides to do something useful at MW, i'd tip him in a clear win over Sturm, possibly a stoppage.

Sturm has Sylvester next as his mandatory, i honestly don't know much about Sylvester, has fought fairly limited opposition like Sturm, short and powerfully built, haven't seen enough to call it. Though Sturm's main attribute is his jab, which would probably work well against him.

Assuming Sturm beats Sylvester, where can/should he go from there?

Would you mind elaborating on what aspects would give him a good chance?

One of the things i did particularly like about Sturm was his defensive guard but Pavlik throws a lot of stiff straight hands that would open that up i think.

I can't wait until someone beats Sturm. Hopefully Sebastian Sylvester is that guy. I've never seen him fight, so I don't know who wins... but I'll be rooting for Sylvester. I hate how Sturm is just babysitting his belt and refuses to unify.

Pavlik vs. Abraham is the only fight that matters right now.

i think the future of MW would be lacking in a couple of years, pavlik i believe would move up, abraham perhaps. At the same time i don't see guys from light middle to move up

Once Pavlik moves up in weight, you might as well shut down 160 for a little while or force any of the good 154 guys to move up to 160.

I quite agree with you! Both AA and Pavlik would beat Sturm if their fight even came off. I very much doubt it! Sturm is a smart guy.He knows that he is out of his shoes against either Pavlik and AA. He is content fighting decent opposition in his backyard in Germany. And rightfully so because even guys like Carrera or Gevor pose serious threats to him!

The future of the mw division is probably Gennady Golovkin. He won silver at the olympic games and has shown some pretty convincing performances in the paid ranks so far.

Pavlik and Abraham are all there is to it. Hopefully the olympics will give us some hope for the future.

Don't forget Lee. Along with Greene, Kirkland, Golovkin, Quillen, P.Williams - MW should be very competive. Maybe even Chavez Jr?

Which performances are you talking about?

And yeah, Abraham and Pavlik would both destroy the weak chinned Sturm. So would Mundine if making 160 doesn't hurt him too bad.

if sturm had more power with his style he coulda easily been one of the top guys in the MW division... sturm needs a big fight again like a winky to really see what hes got.. he looked great against a blown up odlh.

Pavlik, Wright, and Abraham are the only guys at 160 right now that I consider "world class." Pavlik will probably move to 168 in mid 09. Abraham may very well move up too. Winky is 36, and on the way out of the sport. Once these 3 are gone I think we will see a period of 2 years or so where there is nothing at 160 to get excited about. After that who knows?

For me there is only one real fight in the middleweight division at the minute and that is Abraham - Pavlik.

Sturm is awkward and would frustrate Abraham or Pavlik for awhile but i couldn't see Sturm beating either of them.

However, there is quite a few decent up and coming fighter's that people have already mentioned on this thread. Unfortunatly they aren't ready for Abraham, Pavlik and probably even Sturm yet so once a Pavlik-Abraham fight happens or both move up to super middle the middleweight division will be void of any good fighter's untill the younguns come of age.

I have heard people mention William's. Is this the welterweight Paul William's? If so how do you think he will perform at middleweight? Do you think he will have much power at 160?
