Gans goes down from punches that dont even land in that video. How can anyone think its anything but a fix.

Look at how he fights compared to his other filmed performances.

Watch how he is still coherent enough to slip punches and minimize damage but wobbles all over the ring when he isnt even hit.

    He offers almost no offense.

Gans was a great fighter but a bad actor.

You must be blind or didn't even bother watching the video because every single kd was the result of a punch you can clearly see them landing

Just look at the 6:52 mark Terry lands a right uppercut from the clinch followed by a HUGE over hand right that drops Gans for the fourth time

I suppose those didn't land either ay ?

Nothing to do with my post so I'm not sure why you quoted and responded as you did.

Again, I'd love to believe it's legit.

Folks while ya gotta give McGovern some credit, for trying to finish a guy who just did not try at all. Gans did nothing at all, this is a guy who is supposed to be an ATG and he couldn't hold off a heavy superbantamwt. where were the tools that supposedly made Gans great? To me gans had the handcuffs on.

Joe Gans faced everyone during his career and all types of fighters.

He was only stopped five times: In addition to McGovern he was stopped twice at the end of his career to Battling Nelson, once on cuts to Erne, and once to Elbows McFadden. All bigger men than McGovern and in none of them was he overwhelmed from the start, looking weak and clueless. Yet oddly able to duck and slip punches that he reacted to as though he were hit.

Some people today believe it was legitimate. Most at the time, in the know, and closer to the action than you or I said it was a fix. It was bad enough that the sport was banned in Chicago for years to come. It looks ridiculous to me. If we saw Manny Pac or Mayweather react like that today against Orlando Salido youd be screaming bloody murder.

Just because Gans fought **** doesn't make it a fix. Often when fighters are caught cold and early and overwhelmed they fight ****.

Intense pressure and shocking power can do strange things to even the greatest master boxers.
