This guy had some good wins. Some shocking losses (yuri tsurenko???).

he holds a good win over rhodes.

When he stepped up to fight against Pavlik, he put in one of the worst performances we have ever seen from a brit fighter abroad and seemed happy to take his knee throughout the fight and get out of the fight also.

i read that he was sick of boxing and was getting out of the game after the pavlik loss, hated the game etc.

next thing i know he is training fighters.

how do people rate his career? he was a limited fighter but exciting at british level.

I rate his career by saying he was a good domestic level fighter & part of the overrated bunch at light middle in the late 90s & early part of the millenium.

would have been nice to see him around today as the wbu belt allowed him to be protected and not test himself until the pavlik fight when he was out of his depth.

The guy ruined Pavlik with his staredown alone:

Poor Kelly was never the same after......I hear that whenever he closes his eyes, all he sees are the those fierce, piercing eyes cutting right through his soul. No wonder the poor chap went off the rails and became an alcoholic.

    Good fighters.

I always thought that did a lot of MMA too, which always put me off, but I can't really see it looking at the website.

He ruined pavlik, he's never had a good performance since. Much in the same way that ricky ruined floyd: he's not faced a real top opponent since wicky.

Gary had a good column on the BBC website for a while. He got paid quite a bit more to defend the wbu title than he wouldve the British so it made business sense to do that

That's Darren Wilson's place, and it's a great gym. They have an amateur club there too, so don't be put off if you fancy it. Great bunch of guys there.
I think I've seen one or two MMA guys in there, but I can assure you it's predominantly boxing.

He was a decent fighter, the step up to Pavlick was just too much for him.It seemed he had jumped about 3 levels in one fight and he just could not cope.A few fights against some decent American opposition before Pavlick may have helped a bit but too late now.

He was decent but that effort against Pavlik was pathetic.
