What next? 32 years old and not as active as by gone years, is it time to call it a day? Granted Campbell is a talent, but Sykes just didn't seem at the races. As soon as Campbell hurt him it was pretty much game over. Always enjoyed watching him box, solid domestic level fighter who's bagged some solid wins over the years. Bar the 1st Buckland fight aside (where let's be honest, he was caught cold), he's never been handled like that. Heard a good few times that he had a real hard time making Super Feather, so don't see him boxing on at that weight. Don't really see him doing much up at LW, based on the back of what we seen on Saturday.
Was a good domestic fighter a few years ago but can't see him reliving those days now. Was a bit surprised on Saturday as I thought he would give LC a good fight for 6-8 rounds
lets be honest he will be no more than a name for up and coming lightweights now. i think all the years struggling to make super feather have taken their toll
I remember him getting sparked by Garry Buckland in the prizefighter a few years back, he didn't know where he was! He was British champion at the time if I remember rightly.
Your right he struggled for yrs to make sfw and its taken its toll. It was always a big ask for him against luke but i felt that if you got the best sykes and a campbell who was asking questions of himself then he was in with a chance but campbell found his range quick sykes has been out for nearly a yr and half competitvly and he was a bit rusty then the concussive clip on the head was enough. At the end of the day theres no discrase losing to campbell has sykes got enough left to be competative at british lvl im not so sure but in his day he was a good in out fighter
Made a good career with the tools he possessed. Hope he got paid well by Hearn. Matches Campbell with a rugged fella who blocks shots with his chin - didn't tell us anything we didn't know about Campbell and was chief support on a very very poor card.
