How on earth did this guy get a world title shot? He won't be keeping it very long if he is matched against an opponent with a good jab. Who is he fighting next, I heard Dimitry Salita.

i think it was not intended for rees to beat mbaye but rather to act as cannon fodder just to pad mbayes record. you'v got to question mbayes performance that night as well, gavin was standing right in front of mbaye gesturing to him in the later rounds with his hands down, any other fighter would have put rees to sleep but mbaye stood there and was pritty much inactive.

Rees was given a shot, as an easy defence for Mbaye.

Mbaye did not turn up and now Rees is perfect for Amir Khan, as relentless said above.

Ree's surprising reflexes and speed were what did M'Baye in.

Doesn't Khan want to stay at Lightweight?

Khan's chin couldn't hol against Limond so how will It hold against Rees?

And pressure. M'Baye hates pressure, and Rees threw a lot of punches early on.

Rees isn't a world class boxer, certainly, but he's busy, hungry and well-trained. That's a match for anyone, especially considering no-one will ever take him seriously; it'll always be 100% of Rees against 75% of his opponent.

thats what im saying he totally deserved it amazing combo's to the body and head slipped very well for a what i thought was a simple brit brawler was actually a speedy 70 punch a round whitaker wannabe.

good for him is all i can say

I watched Dmitriy Salita fight Ramon Montano last year and it proved that when a prospect is destined for big things the tune up fights are rigged. Ramon Montano knocked Salita down twice in the first round and wobbled him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds in a 8 round fight and the fight was declared a draw, on one judges card Montano actually lost the fight. Absolutely stunning! I hope Rees wins! Even if Rees is not world class if he is having a dig then good on him and best of luck. Salita hatespressure but he does have good technical skills so Rees might have a short reign

Surely he will be made to defend against Kotelnik before too long? At which point I think Rees can say "goodbye" to his title.

He can outwork Kotelnik. Kotelnik's slow and just keeps tight and tries to pressure.
