    A bit of a comedown......

Not so long ago he was saying that Ricky Hatton had to earn his shot, and that he wanted a unification with Witter.

The disapointment here is not the opponent but the fact it looks like being at 140 again.

    Fat lazy sack of ****.

Yeah, i thought he might drop down a couple of weights...He's got absoloutley no power @ 140! Does anyone know if he's still with Warren? Can't see Fwank letting him fight on the Calzaghe undercard!

Gavin over achived winning a legit title he will probably figure more as a Galzaghe promotions fighter from here on out as opposed to being a Warren fighter imo , 140lbs is a too heavy for him i would agree, zero power especially as the fight wears on ie after 4-5 rounds , Good luck all the same Gavin :good

I think you're reading it wrong. I doubt he's comparing him to Calzaghe in ability, just that he comes forward and throws punches. Which he does, pretty badly.

He got whooped bad against Kotelnik. That should have told him he needs to get into shape and fight at his proper weight. He obviously hasn't taken heed, and he's going to suffer. He will probably lose this fight.

    I wouldn't have thought so.

Have you noticed that none of the boxers trained by Enzo C and promoted by Warren have been out since the break-up of the Frank/Joe relationship?

    That's why Cleverly left.

when rees defended his world title he could only sell 1/4 of the tickets avalible. so hes never gonna make frank any money. warren only wanted him to try and get a title fight for khan or get him in with hatton. thats never gonna happen now, so would not be suprised if he has released him.

Current World rankings for the pair are:
    Figueroa- IBF #5, WBA # 15, WBC #4
Gavin Rees- IBF #8, WBA #6, WBC #29

So this fight has quite a bit of significance if you're one who values the alphabet baubles.

I haven't seen Figueroa but Rees despite him being the definition of a blown up fighter is actually quite a competent opponent at Light-Welterweight. He's got a very high workrate and can be hard to tag clean because of his size.
He beat M'Baye quite comfortably and gave Andreas Kotelnik a good fight even if the Ukrainian was on his way to a wide decision(or at least should of been) before stopping him.

With that said if Figueroa is a genuine World Class top 10-15 guy at the weight then he will win. Rees really should be at Lightweight(or Super-Feather)

i belive he was fightign at featherweight earlier in his career.

he is what 5'5 5'4 thats is small for a featherweight let alone 140 pounder.he really did a good job against souley. just took the fight by the balls.
he tried to hype himself up but he isnt that type of guy. he is too socially shy to ask for a shot agaisnt ricky. i heard he is a big big drinker.....:think so 140 here we come
