    George Groves - Possible opponents?

George Groves has done very well in 14 pro fights beating P Samuels in his third fight, C Adamu for the Commonwealth title, undefeated K Anderson, undefeated Olympic champ DeGale for the British title (Now European champ), and former British champ P Smith who had, had many more fights.

Now Groves is sensible and does not want to be rushed before he is ready, so who would be good opponents for Groves to keep learning. Here are some of my opinions

    K Anderson rematch
    J P Mendy
    J Brinkley
    E Ornelas
    A Asikainen
    P Mendy

    Who do you think??

I'd like to see him fight Anderson again.

If he fights again before crimbo it wont be any of those, it will be a handpicked eurobum with no power. It has to be Kenny Anderson to prove a point, after that i can see him fighting the winner of Mendy/Jeffries if that gets made again.

I just need to understand what Anderson or DeGale have done to deserve a rematch. Those two should fight to get a shot at the champ, considering he beat both of them.

I want to see Groves take out a few different styles of fighter before moving up to Euro level. DeGale is Euro-level in name only and struggled mightily to get even there.

Groves is still only 23, so there's no need to rush him into World Level fights right now. His record after 14 fights is fantastic but I'd keep him at domestic level and get him his Lonsdale belt for keeps before stepping it up.

I'd have him fight the Anderson rematch next and if he wins put him in with Parick Mendy. After this I'd step him up at the end of next year to a Magee or Balzsay, guys on the fringes of World Class, for a couple of fights. If he sees off those tests in good fashion then get a world level fight.

I have to agree. What Groves has done in 14 fights is excellent.
I want to see Groves stay at domestic level for a few more fights before moving on. It would be a shame to ruin his promising career by rushing him.
I d think Groves could (As S Bunce stated) beat some recognised international level fighters like Brinkley or Ornelas and gain some good experience

Yeah Brinkley or Ornelas would be good opponents and he would be moving up a level. Technically he is better than both but they would give him rounds. Huge gulf between the elite of the SMW division and the rest at the moment so Groves has a lot to work on but he has loads of time.

    Asikainen retired, didn't he?

Anderson II or Ornelas are the best fights out of your list I reckon.

If he wants to fight before Christmas it won't be anyone of the standard of Johnson. Id guess it would be Anderson

I'd like to see Magee in with Groves but he is above British and Commonwealth level so might be a more likely opponent for Degale.
