GGG vs Chavez Jr.

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Babyface_Johnny, May 14, 2013.

  1. Everybody's talking right now about a possible fight: Canelo vs Mayweather Jr.
(Which i see as a 50-50 fight, considering Floyd can run all night landing counters and take the win in a boring ass match)

But the best fight for fans right now is Gennady Golovkin vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Chavez has talked about the possibility of the fight happening and triple G welcomes it.
Both young, power punchers with iron chin, fans would be the true winners. :happy

That would be a good fight and I would love to see it happen. Though I'd also like to see Chavez Jr. move up in weight. I don't think fighting at 160 is doing him any favors anymore.

Funnily enough, GGG-Chavez is about the same weight difference as between Alvarez-Mayweather. Golovkin could easily make 154 and Chavez barely can make 160.

This fight would probably have to take at a catchweight of 165 0r 166 . I doubt Chavez could shrink himself down to 160 anymore and as limited Chavez Jr is . He takes GGG out .

If Chavez beats Murray/Vera and GGG goodboys Macklin it would be great if this fight is done next. I woulf also like to see one of them fighting the cheap talker Quillin.

Quillin v Chavez would tell a lot about where Quillin is at. Quillin is relatively untested. Although he does look good a the moment.

It would be great to watch. Chavez can take a punch, loves coming forward and his size advantage helps offset the skill difference.

I'd love to see it. With Sergio out for the immediate future, this is the fight at 160, presuming Jr can still make the weight.

If it happens, Chavez is a good boy and loses a decision.

  11. Honestly Sergio has now become irrelevant. He showed his age, wear and tear in the last fight.

Chavez (since he lost his mobility) or GGG knock him out.

GG has the ams backround, the fundamentals and the devastating power in both hands

the only thing Jr has is a rock-solid chin, it would only be a matter of whether GG takes him the distance after dishing out a ton of punishment, or manages to stop him

Hardest puncher in the division versus the guy with the worst defense in the top 10.
Wonder who would win that....on the other side, I'd love to see chavez jr getting knocked out.

GGG is the worst possible style matchup for Chavez around the 160-168 pounds weight range.

Chavez always looked bad against fighters with solid offensive technique. Just watch his fight against Zbik for example. The only question would be if he gets goodboy'd or loses by decision.

  15. The interesting part about this fight is that if GGG can crack Julio's chin.
Freaking Chavez is like the terminator lol. Takes all these shots and he never gets hurt or gets legs wobbly
