I know I overuse the comparison, but that's only because I think it's relevant, he's what Chris John was a few years ago, labelled 'he best fighter you don't know' to such an extent that people that had never even seen him fight called him one of, if not the most, underrated in the sport. Don't buy it in the slightest, he's good and all, but he's not at the level of the guys at the top of the division. I think he's flattered by his wins over what I consider to be a past-prime Sydorenko, Volodymyr wasn't as good then as he was say, in his fights against Poonsawat and Mastrito.

He's hailed as a kind of supreme talent with great slickness, for me he's about as basic as they come for the most part. Again though, I don't want to repeat myself anymore than I have done.

Not yet, I'm currently making my way through some fights I haven't seen, them two being two of them. Might watch tomorrow, maybe even tonight actually, now that you mention it. I finally got round to Rojas-Montes this afternoon, that'll tell you how far behind I am.

I haven't seen a huge amount of him myself, just things I've picked up on that are(in my opinion anyways) interesting. Though it did sound like I was selling him short in a way, I wasn't, just merely pointing out that he does have some flaws, and isn't the full, finished, gleening article many profess him to be. He ain't touching Martinez for the moment, I wouldn't mind seeing him against Pirog though, that I can see him winning.

Indeed. I agree with the Chris John comparison. Same thing happened on here with Dzinziruk. He was some mythical Euro beast with an ATG jab that no-one had ever seen, people picked him over the likes of Sergio and P-Dub based on hearsay and nothing else. He's a quality fighter don't get me wrong, but he was being hyped up to a huge degree, although most had never even seen him fight.

Anselmo's best wins are all of the razor-thin variety. He has been fighting relatively average competition, and looking average in the process. Not a great advertisement for his 'talent' really.

:good. Watch Casimero - Canchila aswell if you haven't already. It's an awsome fight![/quote]

Seems to happen quite a bit round here really. Despite the fact I never shut the **** up about him before hand, people only started to care(and pretend they knew) about Acosta before the Rios fight. Thankfully, even though he lost, he didn't exactly let me down on that front, and even still gets underrated a bit. Granted, not to the same extent.

Nishioka is in danger of becoming one I fear. Obviously not to the same extent as the likes of Moreno because he is a genuinely very good fighter, but I don't think he's that good and that there may be a fall from grace on the horizon. You heard it here(or, maybe somewhere else from me) first.;)

Shall do, I'll be expecting some kind of low-down similar to my Moreno one. I vow that after these I'm going to watch some fights above super-bantam.

I'm with you on Nishioka. I don't rate him that highly at all. A sturdy, solid fighter, with some decent wins on his record, but not an outstanding one by any means. I'd like to see him in with Ponce De Leon, he'd be a sterner test than Rafa Marquez fo' sure.

    :yep

Golovkin wins by TKO in round 10, with Ouma being up against the ropes getting hammered, unable to fire back.

Up until the stoppage, Ouma was winning the fight by a couple of rounds. Golovkin didn't look great by any means. He showed excellent power, chin, and conditioning, but looked at bit lacking in other areas. He also seemed a bit too focused on just landing power shots from mid-range, and looked a bit clueless on the inside. Ouma's shot selection looked to have Gennady flustered for most of the fight. However, he came on strong for the finish, landing some wicked shots and stopping the tired Ouma for the first time in 12 years.

Good win for Golovkin, but he gets a B- from me in terms of performance. Getting outboxed for the majority of the fight was not promising for him.

Golovkin looks too small for 160, he should move down to 154.

Golovkin never got outboxed in this fight. It's true that he did not show any skills that you'd expect from the former amateur star. Infact, it was shocking some of the stuff he did. Wading in crouched down, with his head forward. WTF was that Gennady

But, this was just an out and out war. There were no skills on either side. Nobody was thinking defence or lets throw a jab out there. It was stand toe to toe and break the other guys will. And you've got to say, Golovkin showed some tremendous will and strength in there and prevailed through. Ouma's will broke first, and thats a good sign for Golovkin because he showed real professional rank attributes.

I thought it was one of the fights of the year.

Golovkin has to seriously up his game skills wise though. That was an aging type of fight and you really should deal with Ouma more easily.

I didnt see the fight yet, but I will check it out when I have time. But Im telling you, going off what ive seen before Golovkin will not go as far as many of you are predicting, no disrespect to him. He just doesnt seem to be as multi dimensional as some of you think he is. Certainly not enough to beat the likes of Martinez. If he struggled with Ouma the way i've hear he has, then that just reinforces my pov.

Yeah, I agree. It was a fine fight. Put Moreno - Parra to shame, that's for sure. I was convinced Parra quit because of boredom in that fight :yep.

I meant outboxed in the sense that Golovkin was down on the scorecards, however like you said, it was hardly a boxing match.

I thought that myself, but when you consider the two best middles in the World are former 154lbers (who can still make the weight) I wouldn't think he'd be too disserviced.

Not certain he'd beat Williams, but it certainly looks more feasible for him than Martinez at this stage.

I had Golovkin taking over the last couple rounds on the scorecards TBH. It was certainly nip and tuck for a while though. I gave Golovkin credit for the fact that in a lot of rounds as it progressed he was the ring general, and thats especially important in a fight where the styles are playing out very similarly. He was the one pushing Ouma onto the backfoot.

His defence was absolutely horrendous though. I mean seriously bad. He absorbed way, way too much. Never threw a jab. Never actually thought about giving himself a little more space, not sure whether his footwork is just not good enough and he felt he couldn't, or whether he decided to stand and have a war, I really dunno. But the end result is the same.

Still, he'll beat a lot of people like that. He had Ouma doing a chicken dance, a lot of people are going to feel his power more than the solid chinned Ouma. Martinez looks well out of sight though.

Yeah, pretty much. He's the only threat. Nobody else is even close to being a threat, at least Golovkin has power and takes a shot. You gotta take what you've got in the division and at the moment Golovkin is the only man out there. Pirog as well offers the same sort of threat but I just think he's a lesser puncher.

Yeah and there was a recent interview where they said Golovkin walks around at 161 or something??
Making 154 shouldnt be a problem at all.
