How do you rate Tony Weeks refereeing in Maidana Mayweather? Was he better than Cortez in Mayweather Hatton? (a bit of a low hanging fruit there haha)

I thought overall he did good but there was one time I remember where Maidana was working Floyd on the ropes and Weeks split them up.

Floyd kept looking at Weeks like "git this guy off me" lol

I thought he was breaking them up too often. Maidana wanted to rough him up, and had the strength advantage, so should let him stay inside. Floyd wanted distance, so clinches, separates them, distance achieved.

it was a difficult fight to officiate IMO. Maidana just leaned on floyd and threw a bunch of sloppy punches while floyd was trying to initiate the clinch.

Kenny Weeks sucked ass tonight, that's for sure. But that's normal for him, IMO.

Weeks was better, but still not great.

Pretty bad. A lot of dirty **** from Maidana. A lot. multiple blatant lowblows, a knee, rabbit punches. THrowing Floyd in between the ropes, almost like a tackle. He did a bad job. So did Draculich

Maidana should have lost a point during the fight

Maidana did throw the first low blow early on, but Floyd wasn't an angel either. He was throwing his usual elbows, actually that swung one of the rounds. On the clash of heads, did you notice Floyd was landing a low blow as the heads clashed. The low blows weren't excessive though and were mostly on the leg.

he was WAY TO SOFT ON BOTH FIGHTERS.. so many lowblows an hits to the back of the head by chino, SO MANY elbows by floyd

holding and hitting by both at times... a few stern words from weeks as early as round 1 and 2 yet never took points as it clearly continued

Yeah but if he started deducting points like in Collazo Khan people would be complaining that whoever got points deducted was robbed. Basically I was okay with Weeks not taking any points. It wasn't perfectly refereed by any means but I thought for the most part he tried to stay neutral and let them fight. What Maidana really did well was he was able to land looping punches on the inside without holding. Floyd to his credit didn't just hold, he actually tried to sway his way around and come back off the ropes. That was entertaining because Floyd ate a bunch of right hands. Maidana landed some brutal body shots, he was just wailing away on Floyd and he really figured out how to set those up with his jab and bobbing and weaving his way inside.
