When thinking of Columbians, my top 5 are: 1) Antonio Cervantes 2) Rodrigo Valdes 3) Bernardo Carraballo 4) Miguel 'Happy' Lora 5) Sugar Baby Rojas Its hands down Cervantes for me. Not only the sheer dominance he enjoyed, but such a beautiful fighter to watch. Tall, explosive counter-puncher, kept such control behind the jab. Beat world champions, Nicolino Loche, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Esteban Dejesus, Alfonso Frazer (twice), Pedro adigue and top contenders Hector Thompson, Carlos Gimenez (twice), Miguel Montilla (twice) and Shinichi Kadota. Wow!
You can't find a bigger Corrales fan than me. But Valdez was several levels better than Chico. It's not even up for debate.
Valdez was a better technical fighter than Corrales. Dont knit pick losses..everybody loses look at the beat down Clottey gave Corrales. Corrales cant touch Valdez two different teirs of talent here.

Rodrigo seems to not be in the forefront of this thread. You know I like 'wrecking machines' and Valdez was certainly that. King Carlos better but a shame they couldn't have fought in ideal prime condition. Cervantes certainly deserves top mention.

I am greatly biased in favor of Rocky Valdez....and God knows how great he would have been, and what he would have achieved. I know Cervantes was great...but that Monzon/Valdez thing was one of the biggest boxing memories for me...and how Valdez destroyed Bennie Briscoe...Valdez gets my vote. Woulda coulda shoulda, I know, but Valdez would be the guy everyone would he speaking of in hallowed tones were it not for one super-great fighter standing in his way....so he's the greatest Colombian to me.
