    Surf-I think you are correct. Tommy Ryan was French and English.
    And Jack Delaney was half and half : Half scotch and half water !

    anyone who was born in ireland or atleast one of thier parents born in ireland not any random dude whose great grand father was irish qualifies

    the book by roger anderson the fighting irish lists basically every great irish fighter from the time of dan donnelly its a great read and anybody interested in irish boxing and the history the game should give it a read

    That was an excellent book. I reviewed it on Amazon. Surprised it isn't more widely read.

    dont think neither his mom or dad was born in ireland maybe his grandfather or great grandfather was from ireland either. so O'grady was probably just a family name

    ive read dozens of books about boxing and its history and without doubt this was thre best and most informative

    Tommy Loughran, Billy Conn, Jimmy McLarnin and Gene Tunney are on the Irish Mount Rushmore IMO.

    Dave "boy"McCauley should be mentioned,he was from Larne and was IBF World Flyweight champion around 1988 and that absolute fantastic barnstorming fight after only 14 fights against Fidel Bassa of Columbia,his first tilt at the WBA title in 1987,it was fight of the year.That fight was thrilling,both fighters down more than twice but Dave boy unfortunately succumed in the last rd i think,great fight though.
