Who deserves most respect for success despite not possessing the greatest natural talent? Some overachievers in my book:

Thomas Hearns - Steward didn't hink of him as a great talent, but even among the tough Kronk fighters, his determination was special

Bernard Hopkins - The only great champion ever who lost his first pro fight, rose to the top with extreme discipline

Chris Byrd - For his size and without even being an ATG - talent at lower weight classes, impressive what he acomplished

Max Schmeling - A solid fighter, nut nothing special talent - wise, yet became world champion and beat a prime Joe Louis

Hatton has to be up there, even as a Brit

Doesn't have great technical ability. Downs pints with the best of them inbetween fights

Yet he's still the best at his weight, is/was on most peoples p4p lists, and got a shot at the best fighter

Well done Ricky, we love you

Hopkins is a classic example - not the most naturally talented fighter, certainly, but he accomplished a great deal in spite of this.

Thomas Hearns is a great underacheiver. Just because Manny could not see his potential does not mean it was not so.
