This content is protected s Negotiations for an IBO cruiserweight world title fight between ShaneCameron and Aussie brawler Danny Green have hit a massive snag with suggestions from the Cameron camp they are being priced out of the market. Green's manager ****** Manolikos has apparently tabled an offer to Cameron for a possible bout in New Zealand in April. But the demands being made have been labelled "unrealistic" by Cameron's manager Ken Reinsfield. It's believed Green is requesting a pay-day of $A500,000 as well as the entire profits from the sale of the Australian pay-per-views. Manolikos yesterday declined to comment on the contract specifics but said talks would resume after the New Year. "I will never talk about money and terms on either our side or the side of an opponent. I just don't believe that's anyone's business ," he said. "The discussions are ongoing and we are going to take a couple of weeks off over Christmas to chill out and then have a chat early in the New Year. "A fight against Cameron is one of many options we are looking at. It's a fight that I can see will happen at some stage. Whether that's the next fight for Danny or not, who knows? It's one of two or three serious options we are looking at." Reinsfield said there was no way he and Cameron would agree to the current terms on offer. "The figures are unrealistic," he said. "I don't know what the Aussie pay-per-view figure would be but you can bet it'd be worth a bit. It's obviously valuable, otherwise they wouldn't want to keep it." In May, Cameron dropped down from the heavyweight division to cruiserweight in the hope of a title fight against Green. Since then, he's won his two fights against Daniel Ammann and Anthony McCracken. Green has previously said he'd relish the opportunity to step into the ring with the Mountain Warrior but after watching Cameron struggle against McCracken a month ago he's gone cold on the idea. Reinsfield said it was the Green camp that had initially floated the idea for his charge to drop to the cruiserweight division and that they had a responsibility to honour their word about a title fight. "Let's not forget it was these guys who came to us initially wanting to tee up a fight with Shane," he said. "They asked us if we'd get him down to cruiserweight, which he did. We've done our bit. Shane's beaten the Australian cruiserweight champion. He's beaten another top-ranked cruiserweight. What else do we have to do for this fight? "But I'm beginning to doubt whether these guys thought we would ever actually do it. "I don't think I'd call them [Green's people] dishonest. But I honestly think they said a lot of things when they were thinking Shane would never do what they asked him to. They've had a surprise from him now. feel bad for Cameron dropping to CW thinking he had a fight with Green but i would rather see Green fight the polish WBC champ or Tarver TBH.Cameron had no chance at CW.
shanes a nobody.. he should take whats on offer, knock green colder than yesterdays breakfast THEN reap the rewards such publicity would bring..
Won't exactly be a blockbuster, but there are worse fights about for Green - in fact he's already had a couple of worse ones. Sure Cameron has won the two bouts, but he hasn't exactly set the world on fire. None-the-less this bout will happen whether it's next, or the fight after. The bit about Green's camp suggesting Cameron go down to cruiser, and Cameron's camp now saying 'perhaps they didn't think we'd go ahead and do it', is laughable stuff! Why do they think Green's camp suggested they come down in weight? So that when he did they could turn around and yell PUNKED at him?
cameron dropped to cruiser because he had no future at heavy. it was fight at cruiser or retire. he is just using the green thing as pressure to get a big payday. if they fight next( which i hope they don't, cause cameron is a nobody on the world stage ) u would think profits would be 75% for green 25% for cameron wouldn't u?
In Danny's defence who is Cameron anyway? He shld be happy to get the opportunty to fight for the title and exposure if he shld win, otherwise stick to peanuts fighting on fox cards on a Thursday night.
Cameron did do his bit in dropping weight but the part where he has looked ****, no pop or sharpness compared to what he had at heavyweight is what has turned Green and many fans off with an interest to the fight.
Dunno why so many think this is a bad fight, Cameron has enough to trouble Green and make it an interesting fight. Ok, Cameron has looked average in his last few fights, big deal, Green has always looked average.
The entire Aussie PPV $$$$ is a bit ridiculous. Cameron would have to rely on NZ (assuming it goes there) and the meagre purse on offer. I think minimum 20% of Aussie PPV would clinch it.
cameron should take what he can get...green will walk this in. imo green is far better off chasing one of the big boys now...but i have a feeling bj flores was about as dangerous an opponent as he will face
only seen the Ammann fight which was 3kg over CW and from the sounds of it the McCracken fight was awful.Shane has no chance would rather Tarver or Polish WBC champ.
Cameron should bargain, IMO Stewy.. the alternative for Green & Co. facing another import is obviously more costly for them.. and potentially a far greater risk.
Cameron's training was far from satisfactory... Yeah, he was conditioned, but other factors came into play... The 50/50 routine of training in NZ and Vic hampered him quite a lot. ...this coming from his trainer.
Fair enough Cameron losing weight to go down to Cruiser, but definitely his power has diminished to the point where its mediocre at best. Hopefully his team has looked at all avenues for improving his diet with certain vitamins etc. & other factors rather than just shead the kilos & look ripped. Seems to have a weak core strength at Cruiser from what i have noticed. Hope they can turn it around, as having met Cameron he is a likeable bloke.
Green vs. Cameron not happening... yawn, yawn, yawn. Not exactly upsetting news. I've probaly paid it far to much attention out of my day writing this post!
