I think this is his biggest problem. Pacing. When have got ever seen Bernard hopkins throwing that many punches in a fight? He can't seem to control his output. I think his stamina is questionable, but his Pacing is all over the place.
Read up and found out a bit about Douglin and there's more than meets the eye than just a "light-middleweight with 3 losses". Apparently he'd went through health problems, but since over coming this at the start of this year he's filled out and walks around at 190.. I thought he did look quite big as well as being in good nick on the weekend.
To be fair, jermell charlo looked good against him from what I remember of the fight, also only took him 5 rounds to take him out.
Groves is shot, I very much share Johnny Nelsons opinion on this matter. He was fighting a blown up LMW and had a badly damaged nose and face, fought a non puncher also in Rebrasse and looked terrible. Cant see him winning a world title, and DeGale would hammer him as would Callum Smith
May seem a little premature, but i do believe that Groves has peaked. Had he not fought Froch a second time then he could have convinced himself and others that he was going to win the first fight, but instead he chose to chase the second fight and talked himself up. His big talk seems like a facade to me, i think Froch knocked the confidence and belief out of him.
He named Paddy his head trainer on September 23rd 4 weeks out from the first Froch fight so whoever said 10 weeks was off by a few but I just don't think they fit together George needs someone to reign him in a little at times and Paddy just seems content to remind him of the gameplan and let George run with it, George's ego seems to be a bit of a problem too like he wants to train himself.
We all watched the build up to the 1st one and Groves mentioned that he already knew exactly what to do and how to beat Froch before he joined Paddy. Which leads me to believe the strategy he employed in the first fight was either of his own volition, or worked out with the help of Booth. AFAIK HE told paddy what to do, groves was really only looking for a place to train and someone to hold the mitts for him. Tracking his progress there's certainly a case to be made for him getting worse and worse, also doesnt seem to have that snap on his punches and overall looks less powerful. Fuking S&C coaches hey.
Haha apologies it was late and my math was wrong September 23rd was 2 months before the first fight atsch
