Very underrated fighter. Fought his whole amature career and pro career with only one eye. Went 24-0 and beat Curtis Cokes. Emille Griffith was the only ever man to defeat him, and after this had to reitire due to the doctors finding out about his eye. This content is protected
I would fancy him agianst a alot of 154 fighters today. And show him show respect man, he fought with only one eye, and nearly got a title shot. that is amazing. his only ever loss is to the great emille griffith
Despite beating Cokes, I don't believe he was a great fighter; just a decent, solid contender. He mostly fought against other 2nd and 3rd tier contenders and was known to get away with some close, disputed decisions in his hometown to keep that unbeaten record. His big step up against Griffith exposed his limitations.
His accomplishments compare well to German fighters of today, who usually need two eyes to win by hometown decision.
