Not been into boxing that long but I watched that fight recently and scored it marginally in favour of hagler. Whats everyone elses thoughts?
I actualy had this a draw after 12, never judged any even rounds either. Might have it different if i do it again, i wont though, too hard to judge so ill leave it at that.
115-113 Hagler but some of the rounds were extremely close. A fight between one guy who coudn't fight anymore against another who didn't want to.
Extremely close rounds due to Hagler's inability to throw a punch but no way did Leonard deserve to win. The result was based on how little Hagler was capable of that allowed Leonard to escape. At worst Hagler wins by a point.
I have it one ore two rounds up for Leonard, but can understand if others think Hagler took it. Very close fight.
I've scored it a few times, always have it 115-113 Hagler. It's close. I thought Hagler edged it. One of the judges had it 118-110 Leonard. That was never satisfactorily explained. Since many agreed with the overall decision (or thought the fight was close enough to tip either way) they didn't investigate how and why this judge, JJ Guerra, had come up with 10 rounds to 2.
115-113 for Leonard, never could see what the little bit of fuss was about. Fantastic boxing exhibition by Leonard.
Heeere we go - the most debated fight on classic ever. PS-I thought Leonard won, and I'm a Hagler fan. Didn't want to admit it for years though.
