It must have already been done at least five times but I haven't seen it.
    Thoughts?

Hagler. Two top middles. Two top chins. Two top fighters. But I think Hagler is a notch above. Hagler.

I can’t see what Golovkin’s got that would upset Hagler.

Hagler, the version that fought Sibson was a beast. That's why Ray Leonard cowered from him

I think you have to measure each fighter at his best. Prime vs prime, there is no middle ever that is a shoe in to beat GGG. Sure you can say you think Hagler, Monzone, Robinson, Leonard etc. but GGG has the durability, punching power and ring generalship to compete with any of them. We will never know but I wouldn't be too quick to write off GGG's chances here.

Don't see how GGG wins this, he isn't winning a brawl and he isn't quick or elusive enough to outbox Hagler.
Apart from punch power MH is better in every department and GGG's power wouldn't dent MH's cast iron chin anyway.

GGG's ability to take a punch is every bit as good as Hagler and GGG is a bigger puncher and a stronger middleweight. Hagler was great but he is constantly put on a level that is above what he was. Duran, Leonard and Antuofermo would have had tougher fights against GGG.

Hagler with his boxing ability, slickness, and counter punching can take a wide decision.

Hagler by decision. I see him doing a lot of moving and having success there, and when GGG cuts off the ring, Hagler still has success when they’re up close or with hagler near the ropes.

GGG is very good himself, technically sound, terrific jab, heavy hands, so I don’t think it’s one-sided, but I also don’t think it’s close. Hagler wins a clear 8-4, maybe 9-3 type decision

What are you basing that on? What signature opponent he defeated that suggest that he could compete? Best fighter he's fought so far is Alvarez, and that fight ended in a draw. Alvarez a natural jr.middle was taken to school by a natural Jr.Light weight and beaten far more convincing than what Triple G, a natural super middle
    was able to do.

yeh uh so...at MW, exactly what level is above 7 year largely undisputed reign with elites and Hofers and ATGs.

yeh let me know what level is above that, that Hagler is put on.

Golovkin hasn’t competed with anything even close to the level of Monzon, Robinson and Hagler. There’s little to think he could, unless one extrapolates beyond reason, from a relatively very tame ledger.

It is not a question of who GGG fought. The issue is how dominant he was over what was out there. He shows the qualities that would make him a tough fight against any middle ever. Punching power, ability to take a punch, ring generalship etc. I've been following boxing since the early 1950's. I will tell you that when Monzone and Hagler were still active (as GGG presently is), they were not held in the same high regard as they are now. I take nothing away from them but I would submit that when GGG's days as an active fighter are over, he will be thought of as one of the best middles ever.
