Thought I''d start a wee thread instead of the RBR so its less cluttered. Might do it every week if it catches on.

    Anyway heres my thoughts.

I had it a draw, obviouly McDonnell deserved the decision but it was a very close fight IMO. I thought Hall had the better quality of shots through most of the early rounds, and that McDonnell was quite sloppy, at times he really was sharp he just needs to be more consistent, but he did pull it together late.

Also I thought Jim Watt and the other guy were pretty bad, not hating or anything, they seemed to suggest Hall was just marching forward swinging. I didn't see that at all. He was actually staying off quite well and waiting for McDonnel to react before stepping in with hard shots, he made McDonnell fall short quite alot early and capitalised superbly. I mean Hall was showcasing a solid gameplan and great distance controll, and none of this was being picked up on. I was impressed with Hall not seen this side of his game before.

    Anyway scorecard

    Hall : 1,2,3,5,6,9
    McDonnell: 4,7,8,10,11,12
    Total: 114-114 Draw.

    Undercard

Thought Jeffries was very very poor. I mean, as Maloney said, he was so one-dimensional and not listening to instructions. He showed no controll of range, constantly getting tied up and showed bsolutly no inside game at all. The boyo he fought was shocking, I mean he really didnt try to win at all. I hate shitting on a boxer but that was an embarrasing display he showed no desire to win. If I was Howard Foster I would have declared a No Contest in the 4th round it was dreadful stuff. Also why didnt Foster just go to the scorecards in the fifth because of the cut?

Jeffries really needs to up it IMO if he is to make any impact.

You can't pin it all on Jeffries.

    Morby gave a shameful effort.

awful commentary tonight! Jim Watt is like a winging old woman, always seeing the bad instead of looking for the positives

I heard when Jeffries turned pro, Maloney only signed him because he was a ticket seller and he wouldnt get him much further than 10 fights before feeding him to someone bigger.

Maloney has it spot on really. And I'm surprised as Jeffries looked a sure fire coming out of the Olympics.

I ripped into Morby more than Jeffries.

80-72 to Jeffries in an ugly maul.

Jeffries 1-2, Morby grab, Foster break.....

He was mate, I was told by one of Frank's associates. People forget he was signed originally by Dennis Hobson but left before having a fight for him IIRC. Maloney nipped in sensing the whole Sunderland Football fan thing would take off but sadly he doesn't even look like a title contender.

There's only so much to be done against such a style, though. Even paying more careful attention to what Brooks was saying in the corner, I'm not sure he'd have been able to look all that much better or get the stoppage.

The best thing about this thread was when you said you made it to avoid 'cluttering' the other thread.

We all know the real reason Greg, you think your opinion is lofty and meriting its own

    Maloney's a smart cat.

You've basically already seen it. Jeffries got cut by a headbutt in the 5th also.

A simple step back would have worked wonders IMO, he never tried it once.

Nah, it genuinly wasnt. Its the RBR is just so busy and most people giv their opinions throughout the thread and I just want to hear their quick summations like I did above.

I'll easy get rid of my opinion if it makes you happy.

Aye that was weird, I was expecting some Julian Jackson esque KO at somepoitn.

Also hate the way McRory says McDonnell, but I thought Johnny Nelson was great tonight

Greg, I just found it amusing. Crack on, I love your thread. Agree with most of it. Watt was on drugs tonight.
