Olivares wasn't too shabby of a banger at 126 either. Let's look at a few of his highpoints at feather. 1) Walter Seeley was stopped once in his 38 pro fights, by Ruben Olivares. 2) Jose Luis Ramirez was stopped once in his 111 pro fights, by Ruben Olivares. 3) Bobby Chacon in app. 69 wars was stopped 5 times. Once in a 135 lb. fight by Mancini, stopped by the Ref without Chacon going down. Twice on cuts to Arguello and Boza, but destroyed twice by Olivares. 4) Zensuke Utagawa bragged of never tasting canvas in his career, until Olivares destroyed him. 5) Jose Arranz bragged of never having tasted canvas in 169 amateur and pro fights, until Olivares destroyed him in 3 in an overweight fight (Olivares was bantam champ and fought him weighing 124). 6) Carlos Mendoza was 20-1 in his last 21 fights going into his world title fight with Wilfredo Gomez. Before that streak began he was knocked out by Olivares in 6. 7) Ben Ortiz went the distance with Arguello and Bazooka Limon and was coming off a KO over Alfredo Marcano, until knocked out by Olivares. 8) Arguello himself admitted Olivares had him hurt bad in 12th of their fight before landing his big shot in the 13th. A fight where Olivares was winning on points until that fateful round. Not too shabby at all.

If I may chime in, MAB would have defeated Hamed on the best day of Hamed's life. The difference in world class boxing skills was so apparent that it wouldnt matter what version of The Prince showed up, Barerra would have outclassed him.

 

IMO, Olivares peaked, and was at his very best against Alan Rudkin in a bantam title defence in '69 or '70. The fight ended in the 2nd round and Olivares was in absolutely peak form that night. He had Rudkin down a few times before the ref stopped it, and according to a boxing writer, Olivares "was as accurated with devastating power punches as a circus dagger thrower", in other words, he was deadly sharp and precise in being all over his man and overwhelming him for a 2nd round stoppage. In a previous fight Rudkin went 15 rounds in losing to the great Fighting Harada, so he was no mere pushover.

 

Zamora hit harder than Olivares and Zarate imo

He had Julian Jackson type one punch power.Truly chilling.

Unfortunately he wasn't as good a fighter as the other two overall.
