I don't always agree with him like some are saying, but it sure as hell would feel like something is missing if he wasn't on the broadcast. Brooklyn, that YT clip was hillarious!!!
That annoys me. Atlas also has even rounds sometimes. It's ridiculous. How many professional judges have ever scored a round a draw in a big fight? It's sheer laziness. "Tough", close rounds just mean you need to buckle down and make the extra effort to discern a winner - otherwise how exactly are they tough? It's a lame cop-out and you should never have to listen to any professional commentator resort to it, just as no pro judge has any right to use it in a championship fight.
nothing wrong with even rounds... unless you've got compubox and replays and slow mo from all angles sometimes you can't pick a winner fairly in those 60 seconds.
Lederman only bothered me during the Byrd-Wlad fight when he kept whining about holding while I was watching Wlad tattoo Byrd.
That pic was the first time I've seen him. I didn't expect him to look like that. Anyway, I like him, he sounds like a real character. His voice is great!
That's what I mean though. If you're taking the effort to score a fight, throwing your hands up and saying "well, too close to call" is bull****. You're only going to score a fight if it's easy and obvious? Then what's the point? Have the balls to make a decision one way or the other, open your eyes, (rewind if you have to - or if not an option just rack your brain and remember the round), and find a definitive edge to give somewhere, to someone.
With daughter who is also a judge. I think she gave Pavlik only one round against Taylor: This content is protected The goof ball in the middle: This content is protected
If there were no point in being able to score a round even, then why is the option there? It's not bull****, its a legitimate option that states that no fighter did enough to clearly win the round. Arbitrarily picking a winner if both fighters fought as well as the other is bull****.
I really don't think it should be an option, and think that's part of the problem. Every round has a winner, it doesn't have to be abirtrary, there are very, very few instances where you can't find a very good reason to award a round to one fighter despite the other performing nearly as well. Giving even rounds is laziness.
Best laugh I've had in a while. I don't always agree with how he calls it, but you can't help but like the guy. HBO ran a special on him a few years back.. about how he moved into the commentating role, how his house is basically just a container for every boing magazine ever printed, etc..
