The similarities between Callum Smith and Josh Taylor ? If you look at most of their strengths their similar ones. I am thinking, timing, punch placement, variety, footwork, timing of distance, spitfulness in the way the land to the body shots ad how good they are up close for big guys in their respectful divisions. I know their are some differences like Taylor has better more loose upper body movement whilst Smith has a better jab. What are peoples thoughts on the comparisons ?
Smith`s jab isn`t better than Groves jab it was just longer, the guy is huge, like Hearns and his jab at welter, he outjabbed Ray Leonard! Groves needed to get in the pocket like Ray but he couldn`t and he didn`t have Ray`s chin at their respective weights.
i can't see many similarities to be honest. i feel as though Taylor has much better footwork, for example. Timing is similar though. If you compare their hooks against Groves & Ohara Davies, you can definitely see similarities imo, but you could say that about a lot of fighters who've timed a hook like that
I am talking about timing overall, both have great timing. They also have great balance when throwing shots.
Hmm can’t say I drew such similarities. What I did get last Saturday throughout the fight were Calzaghe vibes. Also in previous fights, due to his bodywork and movement Josh has reminded me of Andre Ward although Taylor clearly has far more spite than SOG.
Wouldn't compare them at all tbh. Taylor is much more fluid and active. Smith uses his size and works mainly off the jab. Two excellent fighters. Timing is an attribute most top fighters share.
Smith bullies opponents through size and reach. Whereas Taylor is a natural and extremely versatile across a variety of styles and ranges. Don’t really see any similarities pal.
