Yes, but as Mark Twain said it, rumours of its death have been greatly exageratted.

Those who was true fans of boxing 20-25 years ago are still fan of boxing today (if they are still alive) i would think. But we could maybe say that boxing has lost some popularity in some countrys because its become more international than ever.. Strange it might sound!

Boxing has never been stronger globally. It seems to be less popular in America, but even then, it's still big business. PPV numbers are impressive overall and look at how desperate Las Vegas were for Ricky Hatton, for example. Boxing is still big business.

In the U.S. boxing was more popular years ago. Back in the 20's Jack Dempsey and Babe Ruth were the two biggest sports stars. In the 40's thru the 70's there were more participants , more gyms, more places to fight, more trainers and gyms.
In other places in the world, like the Philippines, it's a way out of poverty like it used to be in the U.S. ghettos.
It's always been big in Europe and huge in Britan. They're having more success now as intrest in the U.S. dwindles.

Hell yeah. There are so many people that tell me that they haven't watched boxing since the days of Leonard, Hearns and Duran.

    Too many belts.

My suggestion is that HBO and Showtime make contracts with ONE sanctioning body and take over the sport.
