i have been reading a post in another forum and the poster talks about how cotto's style changed over the years,

he is no longer on the balls of his feet bouncing, he doesn't throw fast sharp and combinations anymore, his defense has also weakened.

watch this fight and compare it to his last few.

Good assessment. I noticed he is way more flat footed but he is sharper and mor accurate with his punches and his jab now is very very good. He stalks more now.

i thought he was better earlier in his career when he would box more and use his jab and threw faster combinations and also had a better defense (kept his hands up)

Yeah..but a better boxer would eat him up if he fought like that now..Now he moves in close and makes sure he gets the job done. He is better now then then..He still keeps his guard high and pumps his jab when he needs to. He fought in reservation early. I still think he would of brutalized Hatton at 140 bad match up.The one guy that would love for Hatton to come forward and hold him. Cotto would of knocked his spleen out.

How come every fan can't be like Relentless... We know hes a Cotto fan, (or at least i think) and he is the one that points out Cotto dropping a little bit..

I don't think Cotto is "dropping", he's just evolving. His punches are faster clearly at the lower weight, but it's also because I don't believe there was as much "crunching power" on what he threw. The Cotto that fought Sosa, boxing and moving, would have very little chance against Mayweather. However, I think this new style he has where he stalks and throws powerful body shots at Welterweight will be a real challenge for Mayweather. His current form, though he'll get hit cleanly more, will allow him to have a shot at breaking fighters down even better.

I don't think he would beat Mosley fighting like he used to either. Trying to stay behind a tighter guard and pick his shots more would see him getting outworked. The newer version has a better chance at stopping Mosley, though as said befiore, he'll get hit more.

Cotto is a ****ing superb master at feinting shots.
Mosley have to keep off the ropes and he should be perfectly fine, but he can't let Cotto back him up like Vargas was about to do.. because Cotto will find your ribs and your liver one way or another.
