Probably has a few bills to pay but with the pantomime or wwe fights we get these days and retired fighters making a few quid why not. Could be dangerous due to the way he lived and lives. I actually always fought froch retired early and expected him to have “comeback” fight or too. At least he hasn’t tarnished any rep he has
in the 90s we had Foreman and then Holmes and then the dinosaurs tour got worse and worse with Duran, Camacho Sr., Leonard, Hearns, Chavez sr., Palomino, Rene Arredondo, Donald Curry, Lonnie Smith, Mike Weaver, James Smith, Greg Page, Tim Witherspoon, Alexis Arguello, Eusebio Pedroza., John Mugabi, Danny Lopez, Edwin Rosario, Howard Davis Jr..... goodness.... And now, we have RIcky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao..... They must be desperate for some money!
Barton looked decent against Barrera in the exhibition they had but they was she’s ago plus he’s been on the sesh for years.
For a second there I thought it was a battle of the sexes fight.... And what is sesh? That is not something like when Tony Montana says 'yeyo' right?
At the time, as great as Manny already was prior to the Hatton fight, nobody had any idea that he was going to tear up elite welterweights, like Cotto, Clottey, Margarito. So it stands to reason he would likely beat Hatton. I don't think even Hatton realized how good the Welterweight version of Manny was at the time. That being said, Ricky's camp wasn't quite right and he was over trained and needed some time off. He got knocked down by a junior lightweight in sparring and Mayweather Sr even had Ricky sparring Irislandy Lara, who was too big and too good for the much smaller and over trained Hatton. Hatton looked very good against two world class fighters in Lascano and Malignaggi in his previous two bouts. RIP Ricky! Losing you in this manner is so tragic!
Exactly my point mate. He had a terrible camp, a ridiculous choice of a seemingly narcissistic trainer, overtrained, had a bust up, didn’t listen to tactics as you said he didn’t think he’d be that good, he thought he’d walk through him. None of this means someone is shot to bits as is the consensus due to one sluggish performance against Lazcano. He boxed very well against Paullie. Yes, I remember watching De La Hoya Pacquiao and everyone was in shock bar one or two. Everyone said every time Pac moved up he’s going to be too small. Great fighter.
Lascano was no joke either! He gave prime Castillo all he could handle and handily decisioned Ben Tackie like 8-2 in rounds. He beat many top fighters. He then lost to still prime Vivian Harris by narrow decision, who later got blasted out by Witter. Hatton had a rocky moment vs Lascano but handily beat him 11-1 in rounds. Hatton was a hell of a fighter and one of my all time favorites.
