checking this fight out recently, i was surprised it was so close until about 8th round. HBO had it 66-66 going into 8th round and announcers kept alluding to how Hatton was controlling the tempo of the fight, stalking Floyd and getting to him. All this talk i hear about Pacquiao being too small and he will not be able to chase floyd down, cut off the ring blah blah and Hatton was able to do it for 7 rounds? Hatton was abused by pac...

    It really wasn't.
UK fees had floyd winning going away by the time the KO happened

why would lederman be biased when Mayweather was HBO's prized fighter? I find it hilarious how Lederman is discredited lol, from what i have seen he is typically ON POINT in every fight. He had it 66-66 after 7 rounds and NO, he's not a biased or bad scorer... far from it

The thing that annoyed me most about this fight in hindsight wasn't the actual reffering of Cortez in this particular fight, to appease the hometown fighter, but how his rules was totally different when Hopkins faced Calzaghe to appease the homefighter (also reffred by Cortez).

It wouldn't make a difference to who actually won those fights with if he'd reffred both consistently, however the manner of victory would've been different, with Mayweather winning on points (with the Hops-'Zaggers rules) and Calzaghe winning by TKO (with the Floyd-Hatton rules) :nod

How was Calzaghe gonna TKO Hopkins, a fighter who has never been stopped inside the distance, with his slaps? Even Kovalev couldn't stop Hopkins!

Did you watch the fight. Hopkins was gassing like hell, unable to keep up with the relentless pace set by 'Zaggers. Without taking all the short cuts the ref allowed him to he wouldn't have made the final bell.

In fact, when he faked a low blow and went down the ref should've begun counting him, and he'd pull the same stunt he did when he quit against Dawson.

I watched the fight live in fact. He was gasping, but come on, Hopkins is one of the smartest fighters in history, worst case scenario is that he would have a couple of point deductions, he would have found a way to survive to the final bell.

As on the Dawson fight, why would Hopkins quit in the second round? That is an absurd assumption, but then you are not exactly an unbiased observer are you?

Because he saw a way out of a fight he never wanted with Dawson in the first place.

If, you recall, Dawson had called out Hopkins for years. After Pascal beat Dawson the first time, Dawson became his mandatory. However Pascal was granted a voluntary first and he fought Hopkins but that ended in a controversial draw- they was allowed a rematch but both had to agree to face Dawson immediately after.

After Dawson knocked him down Hopkins saw his escape route and took it. I've seen that crybaby face of Hopkins before:

:crybaby I saw it vs. Robert Allen,
:crybaby I saw it vs. Joe Calzaghe.
:crybaby I saw it in the Jones rematch.
:crybabyI saw it in the Dawson fight.

If you have not seen that, you clearly are not as an astute observer of the sweet science as me.

    Class dismissed. :thumbsup

Rather than an astute observer, you are primarily a troll with a nationalistic agenda (although some of your threads that are agenda free are good).

If Hopkins didn't want to fight Dawkins, why did he actually sign on to a fight and then sign up for a rematch? Your logic is puzzling, but then again you are probably trolling
