Norris and Qawi were very good fighters. Norris had longevity at 154 although his opposition was a little suspect (quite a few older fighters who peaked at lower divisions). Qawi had more quality wins against top fighters than Hatton does.
Borderline, but he will make it. He beats an ATG in Tszyu to take control of light welter, and he remains the top light welter for 4 years. Beats Castillo, gets a belt at 147, beats a few good contenders. I think its more his dominance of his division, and his genuine popularity and mainstream appeal that will get him in, rather than his resume which is a little lacking. Hatton in his prime was a genuinely good LWW, would have been a handful for most that ruled taht division.
Of course he is. The likes of Barry Mcguigan are in there so Hatton is a shoe in. Plus hatton dominated a division for 4 years defeating several champions in that time aswell as winning a title at the weight above.
castillo was an old man, eho did not even want to be there he just turned up and was a shell of his former self look at how castilo got his shot at hatton then look at what happend to him since he had alot of money problems he was a mess plain and simple :verysad
McGuigan ALWAYS seems to get brought up when people question the validity of getting into the HOF. No one rate his resume then?
If it were a "real" HOF, he'd be borderline but likely in. But such as it is, he's in for sure. I wish it weren't so, but the HOF is not all that selective, really.
Duran's lightweight reign was not filled with great opposition though. When he moved up he did fight better guys. That is when he started to fight legends and that is when he started to lose, which then gave his fans the excuse that he was a natural lightweight. Although of all the legends of the 1980s Hagler,Hearns,Leonard,Benitez-Duran was the only one who weighs in as high as 250.
I think he'll probably get in - maybe not on the first ballott but eventually, like I expect Hamed to. Like a few people have mentioned, the HOF seem to have pretty low standards. If it were up to us, I don't imagine Mcguigan and Ingo would be in there.
Beating Dejesus,Buckanan and Marcel all hall of famers its still better than anything Hatton did and even if Duran hadnt beat anyone else after that he would still be inducted to the Hall of fame based on those wins.
Are you crazy??? Please don't compare Duran's storied career with that of Hatton's. Duran's a living legend. Hatton is just an overprotected fighter from across the pond that finally got what was coming to him when he came over to America to dance with the big dogs.
