Fighting the best on his division doesn't translate to a good resume, his division has been **** for a while. Seriously malignagi was the second best at 140? GTFO.
I do get the distinct impression that if I said Hatton's was better, you'd say Cotto's was better, or that if I said Joshua Clottey was a black African, you'd say he was a white Scandinavian, but ok, here we go again... Tszyu is a better single win than any on Cotto's record. But it is only very slightly better than a win over Mosley at 147. The Malignaggi wins cancel each other out. That's only fair. I personally don't really rate the win over Castillo, I think JLC was pretty much shot by then. And after that, I think Cotto's resume is stronger and deeper. Close but clear. Yes, I think Judah, Quintana and Torres are clearly better than Tackie, Urango and Collazo. I thought Ricky was very lucky to get the decision v Collazo, so that doesn't score him loads of credit. Yeah, Ricky's loss was to a better fighter, but he was hopelessly outclassed for the whole fight and knocked out by a puncher who is not exactly a murderous hitter at that weight. Cotto was boxing superbly before he gassed and forgot how to defend. I don't expect Cotto to make those mistakes again, whereas I do think Hatton has hit his glass ceiling. For me it's Cotto close but clear. JMO :good
Yeah, Tszyu is still defintely the best win on his resume IMO. Past his prime or not. Wrestling match or not. In cahoots with the ref win or not... lol.
:goodThats correct and nearly everyone is writing him off against a blown up flyweight.To be honest while not denying Pacquiaos great ability cleaning up the lower divisions people i think are looking through rose tinted glasses at him,although he could still knock Hatton out but i doubt it.
He looked remotely close to losing against Tszyu and even against Lazcano imo at some point he looked like he was gonna be in real trouble when the ref tied his shoes.
The Tszyu fight was pretty close. There is an awful lot of revisionist history going on, with the 'Tszyu was shot' nonsense, and that the only thing that kept him in the fight was his chin and heart etc. That was NOT a shot fighter in that ring. I'm a big Hatton fan and on paper it is not the most impressive record. But it has definitely been an exciting ride. Hopefully over the next year or so he will get the victories he deserves and will go down as one of the great Light Welterweights.
