If by young you mean thirty seven years old, then I could understand where you're coming from . . . otherwise, uh . . .

I'm curious what people think though . . . At his best, meaning, his best as a Heavyweight, probably weighing anywhere from 200-219, focused, in shape, how would toney do in the ring with the likes of Wladimir and Vitali? We already know he can beat Sam Peters when he's in shape, and Liakovich and probably the Beast from the East and Rahman and Ruiz and Holyfield and Ibragimov and the rest of the junk heavyweights, but

What about Wlad and Vitali? prime heavyweight Toney?

i think a prime heavyweight toney could be the best opposition for the klits next to haye and arreola

  4. I didn't realize thompson was 37:patsch but he hasn't taken a lot of punishment or been in a lot of tough fights so he's still somewhat young by heavyweight standards, guy's are fighting into their 40's now and winning, look at Hopkins..

At 40 JT is all but washed up at HW. Haye should win by TKO.

If Haye struggled to beat JT it would show something... It would show what some suspect - that he's a mega hype job. Let's see what DH can do against a live HW.

It'd be interesting to see Toney try to walk David into right hands, but Haye is so quick he could probably just potshot Toney before delivering the heavy artillery.

    well..

which goes back to my original question. How in god's name would beating Toney prove he's ready for a Klitschko or show what he can do against an elite heavyweight?

Toney can move around??? Maybe, if someone put him in a wheelbarrow.

Toney would NEVER get in the ring with Haye.

Toney is finished. He was outboxed by Sam Peter! Sam Peter is not exactly the second coming of Ali, though he did manage to do the shuffle against Toney!
Haye's fight at heavyweight against Barret is more impressive than any of Toney's heavyweight outings. (Toney's best heavyweight win is vs Guinn, maybe old man Evander) Toney is not much more than a survivor with a good chin. He can give guys rounds, but he can't win them anymore.

Now, if we could go back and get the Toney who fought Jirov, he could beat Haye, but today's Toney has no chance.

Toney is not elite at heavyweight and it would prove nothing when it comes down to his chances with either Klitchko.

Haye needs to take on a big heavyweight to get him prepared for the considerable size disadvantage he will face when coming up against the Klitchko's.
