After having a quick read, I think Haye may have made a bad decision.
Taking a very small purse if any, no TV rights apart from UK etc and the rematch clauses.

He should have gone for the Euro title and fought Rogan or someone and then Chagaev or Valuev, whilst waiting for his mandatory WBO or WBA or WBC shot. These fights would have been decent money in the UK for him. And perhaps he could have forced a title fight in the UK on purse bids with VK or WK.

It's a big big gamble for Haye.

Does he know something we don't and why are the Klitschkos so keen on the rematch clauses?

yeah i think haye is really a huge underdog and to be honest the way he accepted on the shitty terms actually means he must have zero doubts in that head of his which is a great thing to have

Of course it's a massive gamble...but **** it, finally someone is showing some balls and willing to fight anyone.

For the good of boxing, everyone should get behind him - apart from the Wlad huggers :p

Haye made the right legacy choice and that is why we love him. It was argued he made the wrong choice in fighting Enzo. He'd outgrown the division a while ago and looked shakey v Mormeck. However Haye wanted to make a huge British showdown and get one more belt before saying au revoir. It's who Haye is and that's why I like him.

I've never looked at it like that. I guess fighting Thompson so early and losing was a decent indicator that he is very prepared to take risk.

David Haye could of aleast, had afew more big heavyweight fights...

Smash afew guys up, on UK TV.

More people still know who Danny Williams is, more so than David Haye.

I find Haye is known. Because he is from London he is often in the London Lite and London Newspaper. He is also in the metro. I think he is definitely known in London. My work colleagues are very mainstream in their knowledge of boxing and quite a few know who he is with out my help.

The Enzo fight really raised his profile.

I think he knows his chin may not hold out in a long campaign at heavyweight and wants to try and take his chance sooner rather than later. Thats why I don't think the 3 fight deal that people are complaining about is such a bad thing, if he's good enough he'll have won the title and made 2 mega defences in run of only 4 fights at the weight (discountng Brolin). Not bad!!!

It's the right choice. Haye will make more money from fighting a Klitschko that he would working his way through the HW ranks against the likes of Martin Rogan et al.

Win and he is a superstar, lose, and he has still got a career ahead of him.

I don't think the general public (out-with London) know who Haye is, when is said I was going to the David Haye fight in London a few months back no ****er knew who I was talking about.

If he beats Wlad the media coverage will surely quadruple, and we could have the biggest 'name' in boxing since Lennox Lewis. From a British perspective.

Haye has a much easier challenge now, hopefully with less restrictive contracts too! Go Haye. I prefer this fight for him.

It's a gamble but one where the odds aren't stacked that much against him.

Valuev doesn't punch his weight and providing Haye doesn't get involved in a war or allow him to clinch and use his weight he won't be serverly tested. Holyfield, at 46 and after a similar inactivity period, took Valuev to 12 rounds and, probably, beat him. Haye will look at that fight and have a ready made blueprint of how to win.

Also, the Klitschko's have both said that they want to hold all 4 belts at the same time. If Haye wins he gets a much better deal against either Wlad or Vitali.
