its pretty simple business to me....stevenson wanted more money because he knew he was worth more, he got a 40% more offer from SHO.....pretty easy math to me.:good if HBO really wanted the stevenson-Kovalev fight, they would have invested he extra $, they had the option to match the $ but they just stayed silent...shows me HBO cares more about saving money than putting on good shows.....looks like SHO is taking over HBO in the next few years HBO might be on ESPN level:hey

boxing is a business...and a sport, without MONEY, there is no SPORT...without the SPORT there is no MONEY...they need eachother......if you cant handle the fact that professional fighters deserve to get paid adequately then maybe you need to find a different sport its like football, the players ask for huge signing bonuses becaue they know in the sport anything can happen, they could get injured and not return for the other 6 seasons they signed for, loosing out on all that money they were gonna make...when it comes to business, ALWAYS GET THE MOST YOU CAN...IF NOT YOUR THE SUCKER WILLING TO TAKE LESS OF YOUR OWN VALUE as for kovalev stevenson...hbo could have put the extra $ but they didnt, they had the option to equal the offer but didnt...in the end last shot of blame for it not happening comes to HBO they had last say in the matter

I do not care about the business side that much, it's not my concern. However, weren't the HBO willing to match this offer with a guarantee from Stevenson that his next opponent (in fall) will be Kovalev? Also the fight with Kovalev already could have been made instead of the Fonfara fight.
Ya, they been riding wards dick for way too long... i mean why would hbo hold on the the fighter that draws the least, and is looking to retire and become and hbo comentator...hmmmm...i wonder.. the diff between HBO and SHO when it comes to investments is simple.... HBO looks at % of profit...in other words how much invested vs how much total sales...EX: hey invest 10$ into a fighter, they make 100$ total, thats 90% profit on investment, which makes hbo happy.. SHO is a bit different, they look at the overall picture, they care more about total sales...EX: if SHO invests 30$ for a fighter but sells 200$.. well thats only 85% profit margin, but they still make 170$...thats less profit % when compared to hbo @ 5% less profit when compared to investment, but thats 70$ more total earnings.... SHO seems to be investing the $ for the long term, HBO seems to be looking at the short term ....
again, im not sure, but i think your right, the question here is they StILL were not willing to offer the right money for kovalev...even if hey were willing to match for fonfara.. its like asking mayweather to fight pac for 3 mil...or let mayweather fight rios for 40 mil....which you think he gona take?
