Awful, awful matchup for Floyd.

 

This would be very one sided...I think Floyd can make the rounds however.

Tommy has to much of a size and strength advantage.

Walks him down and knocks him out.

 

I like Pernells Chin and "D" better,Floyd doesent see the 3rd round.

 

Can't see Floyd neutralizing Hearns' 78' jab so he loses

 

There are 3 welters against him little Floyd would have almost no chance at all: Tommy Hearns, Ray Leonard, and Ray Robinson.

There may be others. I'm not the same caliber of historian as some of the better classic posters.

My point really is that Floyd is far from the best welter ever. In my opinion he isn't the best ever in any of the divisions he has fought in. He's probably the best pure boxer of the current generation, but this is not a particularly strong generation.

 

This is the worst possible style match-up for him.

 

Too big for him. Floyd started boxing at 130. Hearns started at 147.

 

Actually here are some more,Floyd should never be matched up with SRR,SRL,and deffinetly not Hearns,their are 3 more that i think would beat him Curry,Norris,and Forrest,and heres some others that have a very good chance Benitez,Duran,Breland,Simon Brown,Cuevas,McGirt,Starling,McCroy,Tito,Honeygahn,prime ODH at 147 and i think Pryor could have moved up and beat him.

 

Tommy's jab would be the key until he gets the range then he would start landing the right and left to the body and that would be the end of the fight. Round 3 knockout.

Floyd is a very gifted pure boxer, but Tommy has too many physical tools for him. I see a very brutal ending to this fight. I would also be of the opinion that there are a whole lot of guys who would give floyd hell at welter, Tommy is one of the guys who i couldn't see him beating full stop, no matter how many times they fought.
