Povetkin fought several times on German TV so the ones who watch boxing regularly (not just the Klitschko fights) know him. Only the freaks have heard about Arreola. But the fight would take place in the US. So it isn't that important if the Germans know him or not.
Exactly my point. Myau1'a belief that Arreola has a higher media profile is, again, based on media that he himself sees. By no means necessarily. None of Klitschko v Byrd, Brewster, Thompson took place in the US, for example. All were in Germany. Fight would take place where Klitschko would make most money.
Wlad said that he wants to face him in his next fight in the US. I guess he plans to fight in the US at least one time next year.
AND in class.... While yes Mormeck at that time was a step up for him... Klitschko is a differnet beast... It's gonna more than Haye/Arreola winner to shake this division up.... It's gonna take Valuev, Chagaev, Dimitrenko, Cokemez, Povetkin, Arreola, Haye, Klitschko's, Kingpin Johnson, Peter, Virchis.... It's gonna take all these guys fighting each other to totally shake up this division... I think I forgot Ibragimov and Boytsov...
Byrd, Brewster and Thompson all had big wins in Germany prior to fighting Klitschko there so it isn't like nobody in Germany knew who these guys were... Thompson just knocked out Krasniqi in Germany... I guess that Krasniqi guy has a bit of a buzz there... Brewster knocked him out 2...
if vitali and wlad both fight 2,3 times each in 2009 they could potentially clean out the division for real.
In that first sentence you should add the word "here" in between the words "recognition" and "the".... Povetkin never fought in the US as a pro if im not mistaken... Povetkin vs. Klitschko would be fairly big in Germany.... or Russia... probably anywhere in Europe... 2 former Olympic gold medalist.. One the best in the division, the other the best prospect in the business...
The only way Arreola should get to fight Wlad is by beating Haye (or someone similar). He hasn't proven anything yet and needs to get into shape before any such match is any considered. I still think that Haye (for his own sake) should get 1 more HW fight with a Top 20 guy before he fights a Klitschko. If he makes it, by all means, give the man his turn. However, Povetkin should get his shot first. (though, I think it's too soon for him to fight a Klistchko).
