You have to take sick excuses with a grain of salt because fighters and their camps have attempted to explain away losses since the days of bareknuckle and most of the time it's bull****. In my opinion he lost because he was clearly already on the downslide and Hendo was far better than the first time they met.

He won the Rings tourney too, probably a better achievement considering the field that day, Big Nog, Babalu and Gilbert on the same nite IIRC And he also won the PRIDE WWGP too. Dudes done it all, except get a UFC strap
It's up there with the most important, but it's hard to call it the best given the last two rounds. Fedor or Wand would still be the best, given that they were definitive and brutal.
If I had to rank a top 10 in order they'd be something like this Wandy 2 Big Nog Fedor Rafa - For the belt, obviously one of the lesser Champs he's beaten Babalu 1 - 3rd fight of the night, wins the RINGS tourny Shogun Vitor Franklin Newton - For the UFC 17 title Ninja/Renzo/ Yvel/Bisping - take your pick Anyone agree or disagree?
